Garden Fresh

Thursday, August 28, 2014

Eek, imagine meeting one of those rascals on your daily supermarket run. How would you feel? Uncomfortable, surprised, frightened, uneasy? Agan Harahap is the genius artist who used this unexpected series to shift the boundaries between humans and animals. Cleverly he showcased how those creatures would fit into our daily lives and how it would look if they themselves would also be shopping for ingredients for their next dinner party. Thought provoking, don’t you think? It gave me chills! xo

P.S: Llama type of day :)
P.P.S: Also, food shopping by colour.

Yellow Raincoat

Do you own a raincoat or are you more of an umbrella girl? I'm the type that always gets soaked when it rains because I refuse to carry an umbrella. So for my birthday, earlier this month, my mom sent me a classic bright yellow raincoat, so I finally stay dry! Thanks, mom:) It's the weirdest thing but I'm looking forward to rainy autumn days just so I can try it out.

Btw: Balazs told my mom that from now on I will never get lost since he'll be able to spot me from afar - go figure! xo

P.S: This one with Westminster print is amazing too...
P.P.S: Plus this cutie and his raincoat.

Feeling Peachy?

Our breakfast for dinner last night: brioche bread + sliced juicy peaches + fresh mozzarella = the best end of summer French toast there is! Last week our friends treated us to a whole box of their own home-grown peaches, so Balazs and I have been eating ourselves silly with those juicy fruits. The best part about this sandwich is when the mozzarella melts around the peach, making it irresistible. We always go for seconds. (Here is the full how to).

What's your go-to French toast recipe? Do share...xo

P.S: This is a must as well.
P.P.S: Plus this nifty trick to peeling peaches.

Funky Take on Bobby Pins

Wednesday, August 27, 2014

And while we are on the subject of all things lovely, recently I promised myself that this autumn I will make more of an effort to wear a funky bobby pin with my top knots and my messy braids. I just love how something so little like a bobby pin bumble bee can transform an everyday hairdo into something so sweet and sassy! What do you think? Would you wear it? xo

P.S: To barrette or not to barrette?
P.P.S: More awesome ways to wear your bobby pins:)

Autumn Trend: Fair Isle Sweaters

Ready for autumn? If like me, you're two ways about it, I have something that just might convince you. According to Elle, Fair Isle print knits are the go-to cozy uniform sweaters this fall. The chunkier and jazzier, the better! I love this little number in navy, it would look splendid with rolled up jeans, peek-a-boo ankles, flats and this little do. Go Nordic prints! :) Thoughts? xo

P.S: More awesome sweaters and pretty knit dresses.
P.P.S: Plus, snug sweater tights and my last year's go-to sweater.

3-Ingredient Morning Ginger Latte.

Last week while nursing a cold I stumbled upon this awesome ginger latte recipe that quickly became my remedy! It only contains 3 ingredients: ginger+cane sugar=ginger syrup, and almond milk. That is it! It's one of the most soothing, perfectly gingery morning drinks on the planet.

The best part is when you make the ginger syrup once, you can keep it in the fridge for up to a month, so in reality your morning brew will only take a second to make. Great to beat a cold and for those who are trying to cut back on coffee, but still crave a creamy brew each morning. (Here is the full how to).

Would you try it? What's your usual morning fix? Tea, coffee, lemon water, juice? xo

P.S: Also, how to make a spiced chai concentrate for autumn:)
P.P.S: Energy boosting chia Fresca + this fall booster + the amazing superfood mocktail.

exPress-o Film Club: Walk Of Shame

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Have you seen Walk of Shame already? It’s a 2014 hilarious comedy, perfect for a weeknight in. Balazs and I caught it a few days ago and I still giggle every time I think about it.

The story is about a sweet telly reporter who always played by the rules. Her good-girl image is about to pay off as she is the first in line for a great news anchor position. Well almost, that is! There is, of course that one off night when she lets loose and gets herself into a humongous predicament – a one night stand, making friends with gangsters, dealing drugs, steeling a bike from a kid and running away from police. And if that’s not enough, the whole city watches it live as part of morning news:) Well, what is a girl to do when left all alone in the middle of downtown L.A. without a phone, car, ID or money? A must see with a fizzy drink and some buttery popcorn:) xo

Bits and bobs:
- Elizabeth Banks plays the main character and she nailed it!
- My other favourite film with her was People Like Us. Have you seen it?
- Elizabeth on her role.
- Giggle, want to find out what was Elizabeth's first role? You'd never believe it!
- James Marsden plays the one-night-stand:)
- Hilarious! James used to be in a band and check out his headshots from back in the day!
- There was also Sarah Wright and Gillian Jacobs that I remember well from The Box.
- Check out how urban dictionary defines 'walk of shame' :)
- Elizabeth and Lily from Modern Family - awesome!

P.S: Plus, a few other films that rock my world right now.

Up In The Air

With the summer coming to an end those aerial New York and Miami beach snapshots by Antoine Rose make me realize that this season just flew by :) Do you feel the same way? There is always so much to do during this time of the year like sunbathing, swimming, hiking, catching clouds, eating ice cream and dipping toes in the cool sea water - if only we had the time to do them all. So, since Balazs and I missed out on visiting a beach this season, those perfectly orderly and beautifully messy beach photos make my summer complete. Have you spent a day/week/weekend on a beach this season? xo

P.S: Shanghai from 2000 feet above the ground.
P.P.S: Reflections from above NYC style, and emptying gestures.

Parisian Rooftops

Paris is one of those cities that makes my heart skip a beat. Do you feel the same way? So, when this morning I stumbled upon Michael Wolf’s new series on Parisian rooftops, I literally gasped. He climbed many of the buildings, cleverly capturing this lofty perspective on the city that tourists don’t often experience when strolling the streets of Paris. I’ve always said to Balazs that if we were to get a tiny flat with a view like that, I’d move to Paris in a heartbeat. You? xo

P.S: Plus, this spot would be our go-to place as well.
P.P.S: Vintage City of Light...
