Silver Fox - Gents Edition

Does your husband or boyfriend show signs of grey in his hair or beard? Do you like a man with salt and pepper hair?

My Balazs will be 40 this November but he only has an occasional grey beard-hair here and there. Btw: Balazs would tell you that those occasional greys are actually blonde - not true, but denial works wonders sometimes - giggle!

Anyway, I never really thought about how grey hair makes our boys feel about their look, since I am the first one to admit that I find grey or salt and pepper hair very foxy on men. So, when I stumbled upon this awesome piece by David Coggins, I only then realized that some or most boys react on greying pretty similar to how we do:)

David went on this incredible journey of feeling like an old man, thinking about wearing tweed coats and taking long pauses between thoughts (as old men do), to making peace with it, letting nature take its course and actually accepting it:

"In the end, not surprisingly, I liked the idea of being old in the abstract more than the fact of it. But of course, that’s not the end; it’s the onset of a new reality, one that goes hand in hand with that soreness in the back, how it takes less to drink too much, the wrinkles and the rest. But when my beard becomes entirely gray, the irony will be that I’ll miss the season when it was merely pepper and salt, and think wistfully how young I looked back then."

Hmm, we are not that different after all:) Thoughts? xo

P.P.S: Men in glasses, and hot 'n' hairy or just plain scary?

A Rooftop Garden in Brooklyn

Every city has a few of those amazing hidden gems that make us go wow when we see them. Well, one of those secret spots in NYC is the Brooklyn Grange, aka the largest rooftop garden in the world. This farm sits on the top of the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard and it measures a whopping 65,000 sq. ft. Impressive, isn’t it? Ben and his awesome team grows everything organically from tomatoes to basil, mushrooms and they even make their own honey :)

So if you want to lose yourself in something truly amazing and mesmerizing have a look at the time lapse above. It was shot over a period of 7 months and it will blow your mind with its beauty and it will surely make you crave spring like nobody’s business. What a gem!

P.S: Plus, this organic flower farm in Skagit Valley and the Beetlebung Farm.

Cold-Spring Goodness

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

And speaking of spring, have you seen Emerson Fry's Cold-Spring Collection? This girl can't do wrong in my eyes. All the pieces are wearable, sassy, comfy and minimal - just how I like it! I simply can't resist the ocean grey striped top:)

Btw: have you seen that drop shoulder coat? Amazing! But besides it all, those two little dresses are a total must have for early spring, especially if paired with this biker jacket. Ah, all that sass! What tickles your fancy? Are you ready to leave coats and boots behind? (I am!). xo

P.S: How to wear scarves like a true Parisian.
P.P.S: Plus, spring pointy toes :)

Spring Cleaning: 9 Takes on Foxy Intimates

Years ago, my mom told me that ever since her 20s she has this habit of always refreshing/treating herself to a few new intimates just in time for spring. Her thing is that if we are spring cleaning our homes, we should also spring clean the most intimate part of our wardrobe and what’s more refreshing than getting rid of the old/winter bras and knickers and replacing them with a few new foxy numbers that are lighter, sassier, sexier and just perfect for under our favourite cotton tees. Right?

So for the past few years I’ve been religiously spring cleaning my delicates and I have to tell you that it’s one of my favourite times of the year as it feels like with the new goodies come sunshine followed by breezy mornings, freckles and sunscreen smell. I’m all about simple, minimal bras that make me feel foxy, so the 9 below are on my spring cleaning list. Which one tickles your fancy? Planning to do some delicates spring cleaning as well? xo

1. Zinke in blush pink.
2. Huit in bluebell.
3. All for u bra in raspberry.
4. Huit French Kiss in orchid.
5. Araks in melrose.
6. Stella McCartney's 'Gwyneth Gazing' bra.
7. Double wing mesh demi in blue mist.
8. Eloisa bralet in soleil/ivory.
9. Princesse Tamtam in true black.

P.S: Plus, spring hair tickle :)
P.P.S: Fancy checking out if you are wearing the correct size?

The Best Way To Keep Lemons Fresh For Up To 5 Weeks!

If you use tons of lemons in your home as I do, you are in for a treat! Ever since I started to drink lemon water each morning, I’ve been making a point of buying huge amounts of lemons at once to save time, but sometimes they didn’t last as long as I wanted them to. They looked beautiful on my kitchen countertop but after a week they usually got super hard and not usable anymore. Did that happen to you too? Well, according to Faith, keeping lemons out is actually the worst thing ever! Who knew?

So if you fancy beautifully smelly, luscious and juicy lemons in your home for up to 5 weeks (oh yes!) try sealing them in a plastic bag or placing them in a bowl with a cover and keep them tightly in the fridge. I did just that yesterday and now I can't wait to see how long they will last :) Would you try it? xo

P.S: Butter substitute: avocado?
P.P.S: Also how to make a better grilled cheese sandwich?

Book Buddies

Tuesday, February 25, 2014

This melts my heart! In Pennsylvania, The Animal Rescue League started this sweet little program where children can volunteer to read books to sheltered cats while playing with them. It works out great for both as kids can practice their reading skills and enjoy the company of those adorable fur-buddies, while cats find the rhythmic sounds of the human voice very comforting and soothing. Brilliant and heartwarming, don’t you think? They all look so relaxed. xo

P.S: Also, Matteo and his unusual pals + Amelia + Nazroo and Rajan.
P.P.S: Do you remember those two?

Wide-Leg Pants:Thumbs up or down?

With only 20+ days till the official spring (yay!), I think it’s only fair to start daydreaming about our spring wardrobe. Ready? First stop: wide-leg trousers. Would you wear them?

According to Glamour, wide-leg pants are one of the most wearable trends of the season because they go well with tucked-in tees or slouchy blouses, they make your legs look mile long and they also make a great statement with their flowy 70s vibe, no matter where your day takes you! Plus, they are so darn French :). I’m sold, you? xo

P.S: Ah, a bit of sunshine:)
P.P.S: How about dots or florals?

Golden Hour Around The World

Montparnasse, Paris.

Sihanoukville, Cambodia.

Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco.

Vik Beach, Iceland.

Monte Fitz Roy, Argentina.

Santorini, Greece.

Bergamo Alps, Italy.

Cinque Terre, Italy.

Boeu, South Korea.

Blimey, is there anything more swoonworthy than the first and the last hour of sunlight of the day? Those two little windows of spectacular light make for the most romantic views. So, no wonder National Geographic asked their beloved community to share their take on the glorious Golden Hour. Above are the few that I wouldn’t mind seeing in person. Aren’t they gorgeous? (I'm looking at you Iceland). There is something in that warm morning or evening light that makes everything look so much more perfect and peaceful, doesn’t it?

Which one do you prefer: the morning or the evening Golden Hour? xo

P.S: The beauty of infinite space and Balazs' favourite time of the day!

Spring Berry Lippy (that you can make yourself)

Monday, February 24, 2014

A good lip balm with a rosy glow can really make a natural face look put together and fresh with just a little pop of healthy colour. So, when this morning I spotted Kimber's secret and mind-blowingly easy recipe for a raw berry lippy, I knew this week will be all about hunting down lip tubes, pure organic coconut oil and some organic berry powder. I’m hoping to find everything by mid-week, so I can make one of them before Friday’s date-night with Balazs. Fun!

Have you ever tried making your own lippy? Do you use lip balm? What's your favourite? xo

P.S: Plus, this little lipstick trick and those nails.
P.P.S: Remember this?

Left or Right?

Fancy finding out which side of your brain is more dominant?

Are you more of a left-brained person, who is great with words, numbers, loves order, responds best to logic and can solve any problems with a well thought out plan? Or are you more of a right-brained free sprit that uses senses and feelings in decision-making, loves art and poetry, creative, curious and passion is your middle name?

Balazs and I took this cool 30-second brain test last night and it came out that we both are more right-brained but very close to the middle actually with Balazs having 42/58 and me 44/56.

Go on take the test here and come back to share your results. It's so much fun! Are you surprised? Did you expect the results you got? I was pretty sure that Balazs would be very close to the middle but I am a bit surprised how close to the middle I am.

P.S: 40 days of dating.
