Happy Halloween :)

Normally I am not much of a Halloween type, but for the past few years I've been really enjoying it. One: because all the kids are just so incredibly excited about candy and think I am hilarious. Two: because I get to drink jelly green cocktails with gummy spiders all night long. So here are a few photos of our pumpkins this year. Balazs went with the (happy) spooky jack-o'-lantern and I tried to be creative with a poor attempt of carving a witch. The only thing is that the back of the broom didn't really happen :)

Did you carve your pumpkins? What are you up to tonight?

Psst: My 10 year old doggie Monty (top photo) kept on sitting next to that pumpkin for days after we got it. He really liked it, so I snapped that photo of him to remember how goofy he is. xo

P.S: Enchanting firefly forest = swoon!
P.P.S: Don't miss our stunning jewelry GIVEAWAY!

The Best Halloween Costumes - Ever!

Happy Halloween, my sweet darlings! Guess who already won the best spooky costume of 2013? Yup, the family above and rightfully so, don't you think? Steph is the super creative mom and wife who came up with the idea of channelling the characters from the 1986 cult classic, 'Labyrinth'. How genius is this?

She has a long history of fun Halloween costumes as last year the foursome partied as characters from the 1988 Beetlejuice, while the year before that her son Gage was Edward Scissorhands and her daughter Bailey was The Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland. How creative! Best part? You can actually buy them for yourself.

Are you dressing up tonight? As who? Balazs and I are going to be bandits this Halloween:) xo

P.S: Plus, this sweet little baby-ccino to go and the adorable Maddie:)
P.P.S: And 10 best scary films for tonight.

Spiced apple ring pancakes

Oh boy, we are in trouble, aren't we? Yesterday, I had a plan to skip breakfast, have a cup of lemon water and go for a swim. But as you can probably guess, it all changed after I spotted Adrianna's genius spiced apple ring packages recipe. I swapped the swimming for a morning of apple rings dipped in pancakes mix full of cinnamon and nutmeg. Balazs said it was the best decision I made all month - giggle:) If you love apples, you will make those over and over again. Somehow they feel very healthy as the pancake mix is really minimal but the apple stays crisp and wonderfully juicy inside. Would you try them?

P.S: Hoddeok and grilled bagel. Plus chefs and their breakfasts:)
P.P.S: A sassy GIVEAWAY Wednesday is coming up!

exPress-o Film Club: The Blacklist.

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

This week I have a different kind of gem for our movie club Tuesday. It's not a film, it's one of the newest telly series called The Blacklist. Are you watching it? It's NBC's newest drama and it's on Monday nights at 10/9 c. New York Post named it 'the juiciest pick on the primetime fall menu' and I so agree:) Here is the thing, I'm not usually the action type of girl but Balazs and I are totally and utterly hooked on this show. It's one of our favourites right now. There is something so incredibly fascinating about the mysterious plot, I just can't stop watching it.

Just imagine the feeling that nothing in your life is what it seems. Your husband has secrets, you have secrets, your whole life seems to be a lie but there is one guy who seems to know tons about you - the problem is, he is not the most trustworthy kind. He actually is the wicked genius, a criminal mastermind who is above and beyond it all - but for some unknown reason, he decides to help the FBI catch some of the most notorious bad guys on a most wanted list that never was. Each fast-paced episode is packed with drama, intrigue, suspense, and you always feel this underlying mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

So if you’re fancy a bit of thrill, and some subtle, smart humour on your Monday evenings, this series is totally for you:)

Bits and bobs:
- Here you can read more about the plot.
- So interesting!
- The show is created by Jon Bokenkamp and you might remember him from the Perfect Stranger. It was his story.
- The two main characters are James Spader and Megan Boone!
- The are brilliant together.
- Megan and Diego on James Spader.
- And James on the story.
- In 2010-2011 Megan played Deputy D.A. Lauren Stanton on Law & Order LA.
- Do you remember James in The Office?
- And of course, Boston Legal:)
- There is also Diego Klattenhoff as FBI agent Donald Ressler.
- He is probably best knows for his role in Homeland.
- And Ryan Eggold as Megan's husband:)
- This is one of my favourite moments so far.
- James might look scary on screen but he is such a sweetheart:)
- I love her :)
- Secrets and spoilers.
- Here is the recap of yesterday's episode if you fancy checking it out.

What show are you hooked on this season? Any all time favourites? xo

P.S: And more of my sitcom fever:)
P.P.S: Plus, a few other films I adore right now.

Autumn Fedora: thumbs up or down?

The thing I learned about hats over the past year is this: the more you wear them, the less intimidating they are. During my 20s I was convinced that hats and I don't gel but after spending the whole summer sporting my straw fedora, I finally got it. I used to be so intimidated by hats because they ooze so much elegance and I didn’t know if I can pull them off. But ever since I passed the 30 mark, I find them more wearable than ever. They can be a great everyday piece if you find your right match. Oh boy, nowadays I can’t get enough of their beauty and it seems that everyone loves them around the city as well. Go figure! What do you think? xo

P.S: Plus, those darn swoonwothy blues.
P.P.S: And tons more fashion goodness to tickle your fancy:)

Eucalyptus Steam Shower Trick

Fancy a little trick to amazingly special showers that also double as a cold remedy? It’s all in a bundle of fresh or dried eucalyptus – promise! Simply hang it from your shower rod or the base of the shower head fixture and enjoy the most relaxing steam shower of your life. This simple trick works also a lot like the menthol shower tablets designed to help open your airways when you’re sick or having a bad cold. The best part is that as soon as you open the hot water, the steam will rise up towards the eucalyptus, filling your bathroom with the most refreshing, relaxing minty-fresh scent. Our friends are hooked after they spotted it in our bathroom :)Would you try it?

Btw: I think it would also work great with other herbs like lavender or rosemary or even mint. What do you think?

P.S: You can buy fresh eucalyptus in the floral section of most craft stores around your city.
P.P.S: Another nifty use of eucalyptus oil and the perfect fall potpourri:)

Crossing Abby Road

Monday, October 28, 2013

You will never guess what I did this morning. While sipping my coffee I was glued to the Abby Road cam trying to spot how many people will attempt to recreate the iconic Beatles crossing walk. Yup, there is a live feed of the famous Abby Road crossing and anyone around the world can just tune in and enjoy the happenings. On the 8th of August, 1969 at around 11:30 am this incredible little spot became a part of history. Supposedly it’s one of the top touristic attractions and turists try to juggle around the traffic to capture their own crossing walk. Brilliant, don’t you think? Would you do it?

Below are a few of my favourites:

Fun fact: Did you know that on the day when photographer, Iain Macmillan took the famous Beatles photo, he only had ten minutes to do it, while standing on a step-ladder and a policeman held up the traffic. Ha! xo

P.S: Paul McCartney and me:)

Autumn Must Have: Dotty Jumper

We all have a few go-to pieces in our closet, don’t we? You know, those type that no matter how indecisive we are in the morning about what to wear, we always know that we can count on those few little gems to put us back on the right track. This autumn one of those must haves for me is a simple dotty jumper/sweater I got last year as a gift. Last week I caught myself multiple times reaching for it just before going for a meeting. Mine is grey with black dots and it fits my jeans and ballerinas so well. It makes for a perfectly casual everyday piece that I can feel comfortable in and the type that makes me feel sassy whether I’m trying to impress someone or just catching up with a friend over a cup of coffee. Plus understated dots and red lips make for a total showstopper!

Are you wearing dots this season? What's your go-to piece this autumn? xo

P.S: More dotty goodness, including this little number.
P.P.S: Plus, this dotty little dress and a dash of this.

Simple + Scrumptious Baked Eggs.

There are two things certain about eggs. One - you will never find a family who agrees on their favourite type of eggs; and two - when Amanda Hesser makes eggs, you know it will be your new favourite :)

That lady really knows her stuff so it was a no brainer for us what to have for breakfast over the weekend. Here is the thing: I had baked eggs before but never with cream. We usually used milk which is delicious but the cream takes the dish to the next level and makes it perfectly comforting for those autumn lazy mornings. Plus, let me just say that bread will never taste the same after we tried the rosemary oil take on it. Mind blowingly easy! (Here is the recipe).

What’s your favourite take on eggs? Scrambled, poached, omelette, benedicts, baked, grilled cheese or dippy eggs? xo

P.S: If you like food essays, this book might tickle your fancy.
P.P.S: Solo dinner dates and how to tell if an egg is fresh.
