Summer Goals?

If you could do anything you want this summer what would it be? I'm totally smitten with Anne and Christie's little Tumblr where they collect and document all their summer goals to keep them on track. Awesome, isn't it? I've spend last night browsing through it and now I'm itching for a peaceful breakfast on a dock somewhere next to a forest and a little lake followed by a swim (the kind that gives you goosebumps). Le sigh! Your turn? xo

P.S: Also, here is a little sunburn trick for those hot long days.
P.P.S: And this spot is simply swoon-worthy.

Fringe-listic Summer?

Thursday, June 28, 2012

Tomorrow morning I'm off to trim by bangs. I was playing with the idea of letting it grow-out but since I keep on spotting tons of girls with gorgeous bangs, I just succumbed to temptation. So I guess it's my destiny that me and bangs will stick together forever - I am totally cool with that, btw:) Darlings, do you wear bangs? xo

P.S: Also, how to blow dry bangs to perfection.
P.P.S: Plus, more bangs awesomeness.

Would you dare?

Lovelies, would you be brave enough to swim in the Jellyfish Lake? Despite the fact that I think of them as "mesmerizingly disturbing" I literally gasped when I saw those photographs! This incredible spot is hidden on Eil Malk Island in Palau (around 500 miles east of the Philippines) and it’s one of those very few rare gems that are definitely worth checking out. Crikey, just looking at their serene peacefulness makes me daydream about spending an afternoon snorkelling amongst them. Bonus: I read that there is no fear of being stung as their stings weakened over time. Win, win:) Would you dare? Have you been there already? Do tell. xo

P.S: Here is an awesome underwater video of this lake.
P.P.S: Plus, you can read more about this spot here.

Parisian Fun

Who said that we have to take fashion all seriously? Last autumn during Couture shows in Paris, streetstyle photographer Craig Arend opted for more fun and lighthearted approach to taking fashion shots. He asked the likes of Hanneli Mustaparta and Miroslava Duma to simply jump for him so he can capture them in mid-air instead of striking a fashionable pose. I am simply smitten with the concept and those photos turned out super fun – bravo! Don’t you just love them? xo

P.S: Also, fashion meets art and fashion and landscape!

British Telephone Booth Gone Funky

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

This morning while skype-ing with my mom we talked about this awesome BT project that involves the iconic British telephone booths. Yup, the red K6 that braces every single corner of London. The concept involves 85 creative minds who are giving a go to re-invent Gilbert Scott's famous red  creation for a great cause. Each of those 85 phone boxes will pop-up around London throughout the summer and will be eventually auctioned off, but for now Londoners can enjoy those funky boxes to the fullest. Isn't that brilliant?

Seems that London is the place to be this summer, isn’t it? Have you been to Great Britain before? Would you like to go? Or planning to? xo

P.S: Also, London versus Paris.

The SFPH: Peach Popsicles 2 Ways

Balazs and I are admittedly kids at heart. We love candy, chocolate and all things that give you a huge sugar-rush. The thing is that I tend to feel guilty for eating way too much sugar. So my new go-to-summer-treat is homemade popsicles! They keep us cool, sweet and healthy.

Since peaches are in season, I wanted to make some use of them and I whipped up a tray full of yummy popsicles two ways over the weekend. Balazs doesn’t like yoghurt so for him I went with a yoghurt free version which is pretty much a peachy-sorbet and for myself I did a mix of the two. (So delicious and super easy). It took me tops 10 minutes with the washing up – promise!

We filled our freezer and from now on each time we fancy a treat, we just have one or two - totally guilt free:)

Here are both of the recipes if you want to try them.

Peach popsicles 2 ways!
(Adapted from Laura - The First Mess)

Ingredients for peach-yoghurt popsicle mix:
* 2 large peaches, pitted, peeled and sliced
* juice of half a lemon
* 5 tbsp honey
* 3/4 cup thick, plain yogurt or Greek yogurt if you prefer
* 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

* 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Ingredients for peachy sorbet popsicle mix:
* 4 large peaches, pitted, peeled and sliced
* 4 tbsp honey

* 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

* popsicle moulds

Instructions for the peach-yoghurt popsicle:
Place the precut and peeled peaches and 3 tbsp of honey in a small saucepan and cook them over a medium heat for about 4 minutes until slightly softened. Once softened, place the cooked peaches and lemon juice in a food-processor and blend them together until smooth. Set aside to cool. Stir remaining honey and vanilla extract into the yoghurt until thoroughly combined. Layer the cooled peach puree and sweetened yoghurt in the popsicle moulds until you reach the top and freeze for a few hours or overnight. Ta-dah!

Instructions for the peachy sorbet popsicle:
This one is easy-peasy. Simply place the precut and peeled peaches and 3 tbsp of honey in a small saucepan and cook them over a medium heat for about 4 minutes until slightly softened. Once softened, place the cooked peaches and the remaining honey in a food-processor and blend them together until smooth. Set aside to cool for a few minutes. Transfer the peach puree into the popsicle moulds and freeze for a few hours or overnight. Ta-dah!

Note: The honey amount might vary due to the sweetness of the fruit. It’s always a good idea to taste it while mixing so you adjust the sweetness to your liking.

Here is the peach-peeling trick I used: The best way to peel peaches is the same as for tomatoes. Dip them briefly into boiling water (around 10 seconds for a soft fruit, 30 seconds for firmer ones) before cooling in cold water and draining. The skin can then be easily removed with fingers or a knife.

Lovelies, what's your favourite summer treat? Or your favourite fruit? Do you like ice lollies? Would you try those? xo

Quick Chill Wine Trick 2.0

Remember the frozen grapes tip? Well, here is another super handy wine chilling trick for the nights that we simply don't have grapes lying around: wet in cold water and wring out a plain tea towel, wrap it around the bottle, and place the wine in a freezer for a whopping 15 minutes (yup, that little). My friend Sofia came over last night for a glass of Lambrusco and we tried it out. Ladies, it worked like a charm. Ta-dah! Will you give it a go? What’s your favourite wine?

P.S: Also,  fancy knowing how to save leftover wine?
P.P.S: Plus, clementines cooked in wine - yum!

NYC Style Truth or Dare?

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Bravo! Little over two weeks ago in hopes to bring out a bit of summer silliness in her fellow New Yorkers, Chelsea Davison went with a middle school approach and organized a massive game of 'truth or dare' in Washington Square Park. She simply wrote up and left 300 truth or dare cards around the park and waited for the response. ‘Truths’ were instructed to be answered via Twitter while ‘dares’ required a bit more courage. They basically involved performing pretty embarrassing tasks in front of fellow park goers. For instance you had to: quack like a duck or flirt with a total stranger or my favourite: skip instead of walking. The response was totally awesome and Chelsea even got lucky enough to catch a few dares on video. 'Dare' you to check it out:

So, I am curious, would you take part in something like that? Which one would you choose: dare or truth? (I probably would go with dare but blush all the way through). You? Do tell. xo

P.S: And here are a few more NYC gems: the Brooklyn movie nights, fine dining in the subway and the awesome rent-by-hour backyard in Manhattan!

Chevron Power

We chatted about snazzy stripes, the playful dots, the sassy florals and even the elegant paisley, but how about chevron? It's very common around our flats but how about clothes? As for me, I love how it gives a cheeky little twist to an outfit and according to Glitter Guide it's a bolder and more fun take on the beloved stripes. I'm in! What do you think? Would you wear it? What’s your favourite take on it? xo

P.S: And a few more cute trends that you might like:)
