Sexy Nails

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Speaking of adorable, how pretty is this glitter ombre manicure? Michelle always has such fun ideas when it comes to nails! For the gold finish she used Orly glitz & glamour polish with loose glitter and for the metallic look she went with Santee polish and Deborah Lippmann's glitter. Sparkly, sexy and fun...perfect combination for a night out! Aren't they amazing? Darlings, which of those two would you try? And for what occasion? xo

P.S: Here are the instructions.

French Girl Crush

Have you ever worn a seersucker skirt? I remember having one in high school and loving the thin, cool and comfy feel of it. This French cutie just brought those memories back with her oh-so-adorable mini, pastel nail polish, Paul & Joe frames and tucked in tee. What a breezy and fun summer look! Sweets, what do you think? xo

Home Inspiration: Bathroom art

I used to be on the fence about hanging my favourite art prints in the bathroom. I worried that they might get damaged from all the hot steam and humidity. That was until the day I saw this incredible bathroom art wall. So now I have two of my precious French prints above the bathroom sink and my teeth brushing routine got that much more fun! Darlings, how do you feel about bathroom art? Do you have photos, prints or cards hanging above your tub? xo

Chocolate Covered Beer Marshmallows

Oh my goodness, how scrumptious are those beer marshmallows? Jenny is a true "marshmallowist" in my eyes! She had a brilliant idea of substituting water for beer while making marshmallows and dunking them in both milk chocolate and dark chocolate but that is not all. She also topped them off with some salty pretzel crumbles for a lovely balance of sweetness and saltiness. Jenny says you won't taste the beer, instead you might get a hint of maltyness. She wanted to create fluffy vanilla pillows with a slight reminder of that "college taste" by bringing back old memories of kissing boys with beer breath. :) Sweet! xo

P.S: Recipe here.
P.P.S: Stay tuned for an awesome Giveaway!!!

Are your parents happily married or divorced?

As I mentioned before my dad brought lots of old photos and today I would love to share a few vintage shots that make my heart skip a beat!

When I was about 1,5 years old my parents separated and as you can imagine I don't remember a thing. These photos are my only memories of them being together. Don't they look adorable?

To tell you the truth, looking at them now, I feel their marriage was always destined to fail, as they are complete opposites - and not in a way where opposites attract :) Fortunately for all of us, the divorce was really smooth and even sort of peaceful. They both remarried shortly after and are still married to their second spouses. To everybody's surprise, they became one of those few couples who actually has stayed friends, even after all these years. They meet regularly for coffees, family events and talk on the phone about their children and grandkids.

So darlings, let's chat...Are your parents happily married or divorced? Did they remarry? How old were you when they separated? How was that for you? xo

Fashion Trend: Slouchy Sweater

They are perfect for those chilly evenings or windy days when you want to bare your legs in shorts or a skirt but stay warm on top at the same time. Comfortable and effortless look with a hint of sophistication! I'm sold:) Darlings, will you rock this trend this summer? What would you pair it up with? xo

P.S: Sweet family photos coming up!

Omelette Perfection

Darlings, do you like eggs? Balazs and I are mighty obsessed with them lately! Last night he made a spinach and feta omelette for two and we watched Last night with Keira Knightley (I adore her British accent). The recipe is really uncomplicated and if you are not a fan of feta, you can always replace it with a cheese of your choice. Like my Balazs would say, a perfect meal for the soul :). So, what's your favourite egg dish? What do you eat your omelette with? Ham, mushroom, cheese or you rather go with plain? xo

Dog eyes

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Photographer Martin Usborne shot a very interesting series entitled Mute: Silence of Dogs in Cars where he tried to reflect on his childhood experience. Whenever his parents left him in the car, he used to have this terrifying feeling that no one would ever come back to pick him up. He used dogs as his subjects because their expressive eyes capture those same emotions he had as a child. Although the photos feel very real and sad, the series was shot in a studio with special lighting. I feel he was able to create the atmosphere of despair and isolation. I've never been left alone as a child but I remember being scared of dark rooms. My dad always left a little light on for the night so I could sleep well. Sweets, what were you afraid of as a child? xo
