Since forever I've been in love with tiny houses on tiny islands. (I'm a huge water person...and you?). The Thousand Islands on the US - Canada border has the most adorable community of small cottages and I've just read that many of them are for rent during the summer season. Yahoo! I can totally picture Balazs and myself sailling in the sunset on the Saint Lawrence river, enjoying picnics in front of the house while dipping toes in the water or falling asleep to the sounds of nature! I bet you can also get a boat or a canoe? xo
P.S: Remember this little red house in Sweden?

These are so cute! I'm a water person, too. As a kid my family and I would stay at a cottage on Mayne Island, BC and I would spend all day on the beach from breakfast until bed.
(Although thinking about being in one of these during a storm is quite scary!)
this is completely amazing!
i love these island houses! so secluded and private. :-)
Ah! I'm in love! I definitely want to rent a cottage one of these summers...soon!
That is in my neck of the woods! I get to drive over the 1000 Islands monthly. Beautiful, Beautiful. I had enough of driving over and finally last spring we took a boat tour through the Islands and went past that little cabin! Have yet to rent a cabin.
But it could get soooooo lonesome! And..what if I need to get medical help?
:(
I love the water but I would go nuts having a small piece of land surrounded by water with no connection to the main land. I even think Hawaii was too small of an island for me (crazy, yes, I know). But driving to the 1000 Islands would be super fun.
there's a few houses by me in Jersey that are like these - TOTAL DREAM - no joke! - if i could live on an island, blue skies, blue water, trees, sand, beach, tranquility - DREAM!
I have actually been there when I lived in Canada!!! Very peaceful and beautiful.
Just make sure you go in July or August, the other months of the year the water is freeeezing!!

How incredibly lovely! I am totally a water person and I would just love this!
Those are absolutely magical. I wish I could live there.
Wow, talk about an island getaway! Seriously! I like this version of being a castaway! =)

These are awesome! And yet I feel like they are also a little bit creepy, though I'm not the biggest water fan. But what a cool idea! You should go!
How cool!
Love this post!

i'm sure you get this a lot but how does one go about pronouncing the name "Balazs"? i'm only curious because my euro-bf has a tricky name too :)
wow! so crazy. i love to look at these homes but i think i would be too scared to actually live on an island that tiny :) xoxo jillian:: cornflake dreams
These are so darling but I think I would get island fever! haha. Hope your having a good day doll! xo
I've always wondered if there is electricity, plumbing etc in those homes. They look lovely but I have to have running water and such.
I can't tell you how perfect these look to me right now... so dreamy! xo
C..they have everything what other houses have and they seem very comfortable inside.
Jenni, it's quite tricky but the beginning is like the word "ball" and the end is like the ending of the word "collAGE" (the last three letter)...Hope that makes sense!
Chiara, that is fantastic and thank you for the tip!It would be so fun to go sometime soon:)
on a non-stormy weather trip, i would be a-ok with staying there :) cute cottages!
These photos of the houses remind me of a tiny house that was on a tiny island just below Niagara Falls. It was cute, but too close to the falls for me.
These look so magical! What a nice vacation spot.
i've been there a few times... its so beautiful there! my aunt used to live there!! it's a lovely place!
there is a house for sale curently on a private island...It is a STEAL for about a million dollars! Want to buy it?
They look quaint. But more that a day or 2 on one and I would be swimming for shore. Xxxx
There is a house like this in a town near where I live. Everyone always wonders who lives in it. I have always wanted to own something like this.
Is it really, Cara? That is so cool:)
im such a water person! tiny houses on tiny islands is a true fantasy of mine as well :) lovely photos!

These are wonderful and make me want to book a holiday immediately. That might also be slightly influenced by the fact that I am back at work after 11 days off.
it would be so awesome to stay there, for like a week!
I am dreaming about being on an island right now.
Too funny, although they look super cool I might be nervous there would be a tidal wave!!

I didn't even know those existed! They are fantastic for the imagination! I would be so nervous owning one though, I would be afraid that they would fall in!

Can I come too? I'll sail the boat and grill the fish!
so flippin' cute!
I have just added this to places to visit before I die... yesss.
Thats really amazing! But I think I would be too scared of a storm. That would be an interesting place to stay for the summer! Happy day to you love!
ahh! I like to be stuck on one of the deserted islands!!! How fun would that BE!
Love this!!!
But with all the recent flooding here, that's the first thing my mind goes to!! haha
Nikki, sure! Fish and sailling sounds fantastic:)
I love all of these. My parents have a house on a point, which is cool because you can see water surrounding the house out of the front windows! Such a great place to retire! :)
There is a tiny house on an island right where i live... i think it would be so fantastic to spend the summer there!
