Have you ever tried the ombré hair style? I had a short run with it back in High School and it wasn't pretty, believe me:) But those cute girls rock the dip-dye trend so well that it makes me want to give it another go! Somehow it looks so beach-perfect and totally summer-fresh! Sweets, what do you think about ombré hair? Have you tried it? Or planning to? Thumbs up or thumbs down? xo
P.S: Fun fact: The other day I read that ombré is a very easy way to grow out your roots!

haha, I didn't even know it had a name - just thought it was grown out roots! interesting! I don't thinkit would look fab on my shorter hair though...I do like it on these girls!
Im loving the ombre hair at the moment especially on Alexa Chung. she has shorter hair and it looks amazing.
But it also looks fab on long also.

It looks very nice on these gitls and on Rachel Bilson - I think it's perfect for a SoCal surfer chick with a boho style.
I always thought it was just overgrown roots too.
I think it looks best on the lengths shown here. My hair would simply be too long.

Haven't tried it - though I do like it when my highlights grow out! Have to admit I'm getting a bit bored with it now, so thumbs down.
I ended up with ombre hair for awhile after I dyed my hair back to brown; the dyed part lightened up and the roots were a lot darker. I, sadly, wasn't that big of a fan.

I'm not usually a big fan of this look, but I actually like the style in the last picture. I'm glad to say I've never dyed my hair so I haven't had to worry about growing out roots!
Thumbs up for other people, thumbs down for me. My hair does this naturally since it lightens a ton in the sun.

I love it, I couldn't do it as my hair is black, but it looks so lovely on these girls. THUMBS UP!
I love it! I even kind of have a little ombre shade to my hair. It's really subtle since my hair is blonde but it's fun and something different!
I haven't tried it but it looks really great on some ladies!

I kind of have it, I get my hairdresser to do lighter on the tips and less highlights in the roots - but it's not as pretty as those lovely ladies!

Hmm...sure looks beautiful on these girls, but not sure this is a look I could ever pull off!
I think it only looks good if the color difference isn't too striking. :-)
The middle photo has too much contrast for my liking. (the ones on the linked page, I don't really like either) BUT the top and bottom photo, more subtle, I like those colours and would sport that do.
p.s. ~ I didn't know there was a name for that style! Good to learn. I have a few torn out pages of that look.
It looks great on the gals in your pictures... but I don't think it would look all that great on me. I'm not quite an indie rocker I guess.
To me it just looks like they let their hair grow out and didn't get it colored. I don't get why it's such a trend
I think it just looks kind of lazy. Models and starlets can pull it off, of course, but what can't they pull off?

Not a bad look. Although, I saw a woman who dip-dyed her hair pink. NOT a good look.
Thumbs up when it's done with waves or curls. It seems much more subtle that way. Done with stick straight hair? A little much for me...
I like it..not sure if I could pull it off....I agree with styles n cream..would look great if your style is boho/surfer.

I think it's a great summer look, but it can be difficult to achieve. You'll need tomake sure it comes out looking intentionally ombre, and not just someone who's growing out their dyed hair. Go for it!

I had my hairdresser do this to my hair one year ago. She bleached the crap out of my ends, resulting in orange hair that was embarrassing for awhile. But with the power of Loreal hair dye, I got it to be the honey color I liked. I haven't touched the color of my hair ever since and it's actually still ombre. I really like it when it's done carefully!
As much as I want to say thumbs down on principal... it's totally Thumbs up!

Two thumbs WAY up!! It is an awesome way to go back to your natural hair color.
And it makes having some blonde in your hair easier and less expensive to maintain :)
Having said that, it has to be done right.

I love this look on these girls! But I'm not a fan of bleach on hair...
I've never tried it. I have to fight enough with the ends of my hair being dry without any chemicals on it. But if I could, I would have it. I love it.

I had NO idea it had a name! I just thought girls were getting lazy. I don't really like it. It reminds me of the bleach blonds with black roots.

I'm goning to go with thumbs up because my hair is very ombre these days! ;) I first saw this look on Drew Barrymore. I think it's nice as long as the hair is not overly styled. I think you have to wear a loose and easy look for the hair for it to work.
Oh my God- the first one is the absolute perfect hair colour!!
i love it but i have such dark hair that i think it's impossible to pull this look off :( if i had blonde or dirty blonde... totally!
