Street Vendors in Vietnam (From Above)

Monday, October 31, 2016

Enticed by the art that Vietnamese female vendors create with their immaculately stacked bikes, Loes Heerink spent months standing on various bridges in Hanoi waiting for them to pass by.

She wanted to snap photos of those extremely hardworking women to show the world that there is beauty in everything, as long as you stop and look around.

Those ladies wake up at 4 am every single morning and fill up their bikes with as much produce as they physically can handle. Although they probably don’t realize it, but their hard work makes the city’s streets beautifully colorful and cheery every day of the week.

Isn't that special?

P.S: Remember this series?
P.P.S: Plus, reflections from above and this incredible floating market in Thailand.

Biking + Flowers = Spring

Monday, April 18, 2016

Holy moly, the weather was perfect this weekend, wasn't it? It felt incredible to finally shed all the layers and just enjoy the sunshine. So in tune with the glorious weather, here are a few dandy biking photos above with baskets filled with flowers - because this season is all about freshness and a bit of cheesiness:) Cheers!

Do you bike?

The Nonsense Bike

Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Ah, the little things in life!

Rodrigo is all about those tiny special moments that only happen when you take a pause to see them. So recently he started a sweet little series of capturing a few of his favourite things, all neatly piled on his trusty bike. Each image sets the perfect morning mood with a sweet description and a brilliant song reference. Check it out yourself.

Hope this little gem will be the ideal way to ease into your day. Cheers!

P.S: Pink bike + sandwiches = Paris.
P.P.S: And, biking style.

Floral Bicycle Handlebars

Monday, July 27, 2015

My neighbor is one of those red-lipstick-wearing girls that turn heads. Besides having the most amazing sense of style, she rides her bike with a flower-dressed handlebar. Even though her flowers are not fresh, seeing her zoom by always puts a smile on my face. So, when I spotted Chelsea’s idea of creating a peony-dressed bike, I got to think, that maybe, just maybe, I should give it a go before the summer is over. I just love how cheery it looks, don’t you? Good morning, loves!

P.S: Icons and their bikes and NYC biking.
P.P.S: And this girl is awesome!

Coffee Bike Ride Around Europe

Thursday, July 17, 2014

Bravo! Meet Rie, a sweet girl who travels the world on her trusty mobile bicycle cafĂ© while serving freshly brewed coffee on the way. If that's not incredible enough, a year ago Rie packed up and set herself a challenge to ride her coffee bike across Europe. Yowza! She started off her journey in Berlin, went on to Lausanne in Switzerland, Nice in France, and Barcelona in Spain and finished her trip in Portugal, serving her special hand-brewed coffee in each location. The whole trip took her 106 days, countless cups of coffee and in total about 5500 km!

How incredibly awesome is that? Do you bike? Would you ever do something like this? Stories like that make me so happy! xo

P.S: Remember Tiffany and her bike sandwich stand?
P.P.S: The invisible bicycle helmet!

Spring Biking Uniform

Thursday, March 20, 2014

And speaking of the first day of spring, how is this for an easy-breezy-spring-biking-uniform? Somehow, it totally sums up the beginning of spring for me: the first glances of bare legs, covered arms for warmth, lose understated sweatshirt that makes the perfect base for the sassy pop of colour, aka the cute little striped skirt and the quintessential messy French bun. I'm already wearing a similar sweatshirt, bare legs, a bun and glasses today, so I just need to get my hands on one of those skirts and off I go into spring biking in style! What’s your spring biking uniform? Would you wear this one? xo

P.S: Plus, messy spring bobs and those sassy nails.
P.P.S: I've been creating this all morning:)

New York Through the Eyes of a Bicycle

Thursday, January 16, 2014

I often get flabbergasted by NYC as it seems to look amazing from every angle. So, this little project by Tim makes me even more certain that the city that never sleeps is truly something special! Tim is a New Yorker whose transport of choice is his trusty bike. Recently, he realized that when you cycle on the streets, you see the city and it’s habitants from a very different point of view than usual. So he decided to create a little series of photos that he took last year while out and about on his bike. Aren’t they brilliant? xo

P.S: 1940's NYC!
P.P.S: My favoruite is the second image of 125th and Broadway. Harlem, Manhattan. So good!

The Moody Art Of Cycling

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

Biking during autumn is always a bit bitter-sweet, isn’t it? The crisp air really invigorates you while the chilliness is a bit uncomfortable at times. But you know that as soon as the temperatures drop to the frosty level, your bike goes off for a vacation for the rest of the year, so you really want to enjoy the last few months with it:) At least that is how it’s with me, and those photos above by an Italian photographer Massimiliano Sarno make me daydream about the incredibly wonderful feeling of autumn solitary biking. They’re moody, dreamy, a bit grumpy, oh-so fascinating and somehow therapeutic, wouldn’t you say? Do you bike?

P.S: Plus, NYC biking.
P.P.S: And this super cool invisible bicycle helmet!

Spring Cycling With Basket: Thumbs up or down?

Thursday, February 28, 2013

Darlings, how do you commute? Do you drive, take the subway, brace the city on foot or maybe cycle? Since Balazs and I don't drive, we mostly walk or bike. Sadly, over the winter my beloved bike-basket got stolen, so I'm on a hunt for a new one. I've been looking around and I have the hardest time deciding which one I fancy the most or if I should get one at all this time around.

They all seem perfect, especially this bike porter or this little basket. So, I'd love to ask your advice: do you have a basket? What kind? Or maybe they are not your thing? xo

P.S: Fancy more biking goodness? Remember icons and their bikes?
P.P.S: Also, the brilliant the invisible bicycle helmet and an awesome way to park your bike!

Helsinki Tweed Run

Thursday, October 18, 2012

Remember when last year we talked about NYC’s annual tweed run? Well, this morning I stumbled upon those awesome photographs of Helsinki's tweed run that took place last February. Crikey, Finns took the metropolitan bicycle ride with a bit of style to a whole new level. Not only did they dress in their best British cycling gear, but they also braced the Finnish snow while biking. That’s called dedication, don’t you think? Genius!

Would you join in? (I totally would). xo

Cycling With Dogs?

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Do you bike with your dog? Would you? Ah, wish I could squeeze Buffer and Monty in a basket but they are way too cheeky for biking. They'd much rather run after me, then chill and enjoy the view - little rascals. So instead I indulge in those sweet photos of cycling dogs and their lovely owners. Did you know that there is a little town in Italy called Ferrara that is super famous for pet-cycling? Supposedly it’s totally normal to see people on bikes with more than one dog, kids and even groceries in the back basket. Pretty brilliant, don’t you think? xo

P.S: Fancy cycling like a true Parisian this autumn?

The Invisible Bicycle Helmet

Thursday, August 30, 2012
By any means, bike helmets aren’t the most comfortable or stylish things in the world to wear, right? Do you wear one while biking? Well, two brilliant Swedish designers, Anna and Teresa are set to change our perspective with their clever idea of an invisible helmet that they worked on for the past 7 years.  I’m in awe of them, aren’t you? Isn’t it brilliant? xo

P.S: Here is more info if you fancy reading more.
P.P.S: Plus, going Dutch and Danish.

Pink Bike + Sandwiches = Paris

Monday, June 4, 2012

Listen to that, the adorable girl on the photos above is Tiffany. Over two years ago in hopes to combine her two passions: biking and feeding people, she created a brilliant little sandwich delivery service. How awesome is that? She cruises on her pink bike around Paris and sells freshly made goodies right from the vintage suitcase attached to the back of her bike. Yup, if you are planning a holiday in the city of light, you might want to be on a look-out for her. Totally inspiring! xo

P.S: Also, coffee and farm on wheels:)

Friday, April 13, 2012

Oh boy, it was a short week for me but it proved to be a busy one as well. Balazs and I are looking forward to apple pancakes and Curb Your Enthusiasm tonight. Besides that we don't really have plans - just catching up on sleep and taking a few long strolls on the island. Lovelies, what are you up to in the next two days? Any cool or exciting plans? Do tell! Also, as always here are a few fun links to check out if you're in a blog-hopping-type-of-mood this weekend. Enjoy!

Biking Style: Going Dutch (and Danish)

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Since the weather is pretty lovely lately, I've been cycling up a storm. It feels super refreshing and strangely freeing to spin the wheels about, doesn't it? Anyhow, last night while catching up on my reading I spotted a fun little article about Dutch and Danish cycling culture. Both are pretty similar and it's totally jaw dropping to think that more than third of the Netherlands' population commutes by bike at all times. Inspiring, isn’t it? It’s like their second nature. The fun think is that till now I couldn’t really make a difference between Danish and Dutch biking style but after reading the article I noticed that Danish bikers are a bit more chic, while Dutch are funkier - nevertheless I adore them both! They are awesome.

Lovelies, how do you commute? By car, subway (metro), do you walk or bike or maybe travel by bus? I mostly walk or bike everywhere. (And we don't own a car as we live downtown - everything is pretty close and easily accessible).

Fun Fact: The Dutch word for bicycle is fiets (pronounced "feets") and in Amsterdam there are much more bikers than drivers on the streets.

P.S: Check out this bicycling rush hour video in Utrecht, Netherlands. Incredible!!!
