Wake Up Happy!

What position do you sleep in? On your left side, right side, on your tummy or on your back? I tend to twist and turn a lot but that's about to change!

This morning, I read that people who sleep on their right side have mellower dreams filled with relief, joy, peace and love. They also wake up better rested and are less dysfunctional during their waking hours. On the other hand (or other side, rather), people who happen to sleep on their left side add physical stress and pressure to their heart that ends up making them feel less rested in the morning. Also, it's always better to turn off your night lights or a telly since they are said to suppress our feel-good hormones and end up making us feeling moody and despondent.

Hmm, interesting, isn't it? So the way to go is sleeping on the right side in total darkness. xo

P.S: Do you sleep enough?
P.P.S: Sleeping on strangers on the subway and if you have troubles falling a sleep, this will help:)

Hi Diana, I'm not sure if you would recognise my blog... I used to do the posts called 'Shopping Lists' a few years ago. I've changed the blog name and theme recently as I'm thinking of starting up blogging again!

I was literally just going through my old posts and re-reading comments and you left me so many nice comments! Just wanted to say thank you :D

I try not to sleep on my sides as it's not supposed to be good for your skin. Apparently, the pillows (unless silky) pull and strain the skin on your face and creates wrinkles! I guess I've trained myself to find relaxation when I'm lying flat on my back; I find I can breathe deeply in that position as long as my head is properly elevated xxx

I sleep both sides, depending where I can face the wall. I don't know why but I prefer to have my face against the wall.. I used to sleep my forehead touching wall and now as I have a wooden sofabed with a long wooden board on the side - I love sleeping my head against it.

@SiniAnnika Oh my gosh I used to sleep with my forehead against the wall, especially during the summer, because it felt cool and comforting. But too often I would headbutt the wall in that moment when you're just waking up but still dreaming...

Around about the 3rd time I did it and had to spend the next couple of days nursing a lump on my head I decided to change the position of my bed hahaha

My usual position is on my stomach but in this heat, I started to sleep on my back more. Jill

I sleep on my right and usually have amazingly vivid "other life" sort of dreams. Otherwise I crash on my tummy post bub feed. I wonder if that correlates with nights I have boring "someone bought be a tea strainer" dreams.

I sleep on both sides and interesting enough in pregnancy they recomand to sleep on your left side because it is better for the baby. Anyways I have vivid dreams ever since I can remember :)

I can only sleep on my tymmy (that's why I can't sleep in planes, it's terrible really). I wonder what I will do when I get pregnant... :/

I started sleeping on my left side because it's better when you are expecting. I had to train myself to switch from the right to the left side. How interesting that it is supposed to cause more stress if you sleep on the left, but is better when you are pregnant (something to do with a large nerve or artery placement).

Sarah, you are SO sweet! My pleasure, lovely and how interesting that there is a connection between pillows and wrinkles. Ps: Can't wait to read your new blog:) xoxo

Interesting! I did know about the added heart pressure, meaning the sleeping on your right side was better for you but had never heard that equated to happiness before. Also I woke up on my left side today and feel like a grump which is not something I normally would do. I'll have to make more of an effort.

@Sarah Candia I've had the same few times! I even had a black eye because I hit my face against the headboard. But still, love sleeping like that.
