Wedding Dress Colour Dilemma

Thursday, May 15, 2014

What colour was (or will be) your wedding dress? My good friend is getting married in a couple of weeks so yesterday she asked me to help her find the perfect wedding dress for her very low-key ceremony. The thing is since Abby is not a traditional kind, she doesn’t want to wear white. She would like to wear another colour that will make her feel comfortable yet special on the day.

Honestly, I am in a pickle and I need your help. Abby is a tall, blue-eyed 36-year-old with curly hazel lion-like hair who loves dark and moody colours. Her whole wardrobe is in black, grey and navy. My initial idea was ombré or blue but what do you think?

Here are 5 different colours that we are thinking about, starting with...

Blue...

Green...

Grey...

Ombré...

Or black...

Which one do you like best? Which one would you wear? xo

P.S: Would you get married barefoot?
P.P.S:From behind:)

Green for me. My dress was blush color but if I could choose again, I'd go with green, short silk dress. Jill

Beautiful dresses! I wore white, but one of my best friends wore bright blue with a white sash around her waist. She looked amazing! If she wears a lot of grey, a pale grey would look really lovely. And those green dresses are stunning!! -Katie

When I was shopping for my dress in February, I couldn't believe how many blue dresses there were! The shops told me that blue is very en vogue this season. I went more traditional, but there are some beautiful blue options out there!

What a fun blog!

I liked the very first dress you listed... The pale/pastel bluish gray off-the-shoulder dress that looks like it's made of all Tulle like fabric!

Love that one!

I love the blue, it's so romantic! I adore non traditional brides and non white wedding dresses! I would def say a blue or green would be gorgeous for her. <3

I love that pale blue number. I had a beach-wedding in Bali where I got to design my own creme white wedding dress, barefoot off course :-)

I think that the grey options you have shown are so pretty!!
The other options are nice too but there is just something about the grey
It's not white but yet still different and special enough to stand out on such an important day <3
Congrats Abby!!!

I would pick the grey one. Or light blue. It would probaly pop her blues eyes (or how do you say that in English?

That first dress is absolutely stunning. Wow. I'm wearing white, but I think if I was to get married twice (to the same person, haha) I'd wear something colourful. Surprisingly, I actually really like the black ones you posted too. I'm sure she will look beautiful no matter what she wears. Brides glow :)

I love the soft powdery blues and greys. I was thinking about getting a blush pink dress myself. Or a gold sequin dress for the reception, but we ended up having a very very small wedding and it seemed kinda silly to get changed into another dress.

diana , I would go for an ombre blue or green like in the pics with some details like a delicate print or with some sequins on the dress . etsy has some nice designers that are unique

what a wonderful idea to wear a dress that isn't just white, but simply gorgeous. i vote for that dusky blue on the tulle number on the top row (after the first pic). just a bit different from the blue in first pic, almost a hint of green. just lovely!
