Real Ballet Shoes for the Street?

Thursday, March 13, 2014

Would you wear classic ballet shoes? (Those that ballerinas dance in?). Here is the thing, there is a British girl who lives on our street that wears those soft, satin, blush coloured ballerinas every spring and summer and looks incredibly beautiful. Somehow, since they are not really meant for street-wear, they make such a statement when you see them paired up with everyday jeans and tee type of uniform. I don’t think she is a dancer but she sure is an artist of some sort. Yesterday I spotted her wearing them with rolled up boyfriend-style jeans and bare legs. Thoughts?

Btw: Amy Winehouse used to wear them too, didn’t she?. xo

P.S: Plus, NYC Ballet's ballerinas on and off duty.
P.P.S: Ballet moves by James Dean.

What a fun idea especially for summer when it's too hot to wear shoes anyway. I should get a pair to try. Do you think they would alst a whole season?

Oh they are so pretty and this is taking me back to when I was little and took ballet lessons. I love the look, but unfortunately for my feet I need some arch support. WAH! :)

I'm so in! I used to leave the studio with my training shoes all the time. Heart.

They look so cute! I can say, though, I wear them all day long while teaching and my feet kill me at the end of the day. I wore them on my wedding day and my feet were in such pain because of the lack of support. But, it might just be my type of feet, and we're all different. My heels get very tender and tight.

Anonymous, I think they might but it all depends on how much you walk in them...like with all shoes.

Love the look! For years I've worn white leather ones at home. When, I was younger, and before foot surgeries, I wore them all summer long. But, now I need much more arch support (sigh). For, my wedding, I wore pink satin (as my dress was 'blush' silk organza, with only the top layer white.

I probably still have a pair in my mom's attic. worn pink leather. i don't know if i could pull the slippers off anymore, but i do also still hve my pink, altered leg warmers that have a heel cut out and damn if they still aren't some of the coziest things ever.

What a wonderful idea. I'm going to have to dig out my shoes. They're just so dreamy...
