...Rome! Thank you so much for all the awesome suggestions and great tips all around. From all the emails and comments it seems that the majority of you were sold on Prague, Rome and Lisbon.

Balazs and I were very excited to see what you picked and after browsing through all the ideas once more and reading about your experiences, we decided that Rome is definitely for us this time around. (But Lisbon was a very close second). The thing that nudged us to pick Italy was the overwhelming amount of history, the food that you guys kept on referring to and the fact that it won't be crowded, since it's before the summer season rush. Also, someone made a great point saying that the weather will be already pretty spring-y due to the Mediterranean climate, so we can easily enjoy strolls as well as all the museums. Best of two worlds, really! We are leaving in the end of March for a week-long vacation - the flights are all booked. Yay!

So, darlings I would love to hear all your tips on Rome, please. Where to stay? What to see besides the obvious? What to look out for? Where is the best ice cream or pasta place? Where should we get lost? What's the best way to move around the city: walk, bus, bike? Can’t wait to hear your ideas. Thank you! xo

I'm glad you picked Rome and since you're going before the summer season, you will be able to enjoy all the museums without the never-ending waiting lines. I have a few suggestion on where to stay and I know of the most delish pasta restaurant next to the Colosseum. I will write everything down for you and send it your way tonight.

AHHH so excited for you!! we loved rome. we got a really nice (and affordable hotel) the first part of our trip -- the canadian best western (i know...weird right.) BUT the rooms were nice + they gave us free breakfast which was tasty and the location was conveniently located near the train station but NOT in a sketchy area. we paid a LOT more for a room at the radisson blu and the hotel was in a BAD area and the rooms were not worth the price! here are some more rome recommendations: http://www.cornflakedreams.com/2013/09/roma-part-one.html

buy your Colosseum tickets in advance and skip that crazy line!

definitely go to GROM for gelato too! xo

What a wonderful trip to be looking forward to! Rome is spectacular and you will fall in love with it all. My only tip is a general one to not eat at any of the restaurants near the Colisseum - great view, but poor food and tourist prices (ouch!). Find a place down one of the many side streets where the menu has not been translated into English! We had some magical meals by doing the same! ENJOY!!!!! xx

I lived in Rome for 4 months in college 7-8 years ago (wow, can't believe it's been that long!) and I loved every moment of it. There are some incredible stationairy stores near the Pantheon - they do it better in Italy than here. Every tiny pizza shop is different and all amazing. I lived in Trastevere, which is a more local-centric neighborhood than much of Rome; the streets around Campo di Fiori - which has an incredible market - are tiny, twisting and provide a charm and surprise around every turn. Wish I could think of more at the moment! If I do I will add.
