Bed Making = Happiness

Monday, September 24, 2012

Be honest, do you make your bed each morning? Till recently the only reason I was making our bed was out of habit but since I read Karen Miller's theory behind it, I look at that 3 minutes of my morning in a whole different way.

Karen believes that "the state of your bed is the state of your head." Isn’t that spot on? Also, according to Gretchen Rubin (author of The Happiness Project) the whole process of fluffing your pillows and covers boosts happiness, as you start your day on a fresh note and you’ll continue creating positive little changes in your life. Ha, who would have thought? The one thing I know is that I really enjoy my bed making now and let’s face it: what’s better than an extra few minutes between crisp fresh sheets, right? What do you think? xo

P.S: Remember this bedroom?

My husband makes the bed every morning, it definitely makes the room look much more orderly.

I always make my bed in the morning. I even just make my half if Glen is still asleep, which he thinks is crazy. ;-) But he state of my surroundings definitely affects my state of mind, so I like things to be neat and clean and organized. :-)

I agree! I can't be productive if my bed is in a mess. this is probably partly due to the fact that I'm a student and so I only pretty much have the one room to live in. And I do most of my homework on my bed! xx

I always make my bed! I was a very messy teenager and now I'm very tidy and neat. Hate to get home to a messy bed.

Oh I've always agreed with that idea! I make my bed every single morning. If the bed is pretty and set, then the rest of my day will start off on the right foot. :)

Oh man, the state of your bed is the state of your head! What life changing words! I go through periods of bed making and then periods of complete slacking... lol it totally defines my life!

I totally agree with Karen! If my husband makes the bed I often feel a little annoyed that I didn't get to make it the way I like it... So I do confess I go about fluffing the pillows anyway!

I love this. I think it's totally worth it. It's a time, a ritual, that you can do every morning. A way you can add a certain neatness to your life and enjoy the comfort of it.

Must have bed made....essential to feeling, made up.
If my hubby made the bed, I'd fall out of it giggling, he he.
He has helped on his end though.
