Out My Window

Thursday, August 16, 2012

Do you ever wonder who are your neighbors, how do they spend their time after work, what’s behind their door? Well, NYC based photographer, Gail Albert Halaban was as curious as I often am about what’s behind those twinkling window lights, so she created a photo series of sneak peeks into her neighbors' homes. All the residents were totally co-operating and allowed her to shoot their most intimate moments. How interesting, isn’t it?

Psst: I am curious, do you have curtains in your home? (We don’t). xo

P.S: Remember those?
P.P.S: Plus, all things NYC!

I love to look through people's windows.....it is comforting somehow....no curtains here....and huge windows everywhere....but we have a very, private place.....

these are great pictures. If I lived in NYC I'd probably spy on my neighbours too ; )

We have shades which I like to keep pulled down. We live on the first floor and people have to walk by our giant windows to go to their own apartments!

I'm glad the neighbors agreed to this, or it would have been way creepy!!! But I am totally curious about our neighbors. Whenever my husband and I walk our dog at night, I try to sneak peaks in our neighbors' homes. Creepy? Yes. But I can't help myself!

I love this! I always love looking in the windows of NYC lofts when I'm there. We don't have curtains in our home either; I love to have as much sunlight as possible shining through the windows!

We have vertical blinds but when we go on walks we check out everyone's open windows... teehee!

Windows aren’t designed simply for structural purposes. I think it provides us a way to participate with the world, even when we’re inside our homes. I love looking out my window whenever I feel like unwinding. It gives me a different kind of perspective, where my focus is with the activities around me. I just noticed, by the way, commercial buildings prevalently use double hung windows. Hmm…

Windows connect the inside to the outside. Isn’t that amazing? I always love staring at the window and spend some relaxing time alone.

Hmm..if I were to take pictures of my neighbors, I’d prefer taking candid shots. Haha! Anyway, like what Leah said, whenever I feel exhausted, I just stare out the window to relax.
