We Are Lucky!

Thursday, July 19, 2012

Yesterday Mandy wrote about this cool project called We Are Lucky and it simply melted my heart. Listen to this, last year the person behind the project came into some money and instead of spending it all for a space flight he decided to pass on his good luck to complete strangers by giving away $1000 each day (more or less). The only thing he asks from the person is to do something positive, beautiful with the cash.

I spent hours reading all the different and totally remarkable "lucky stories" that are documented on the site and the impact the money had on people's lives or their communities. For example Sarah (in the blue dress) gave her $1000 to a children's charity, Mario (top photo) gave his share to his daughter who works with abandoned dogs and Rufus (last photo) decided to purchase sporting equipment for the unprivileged children of his little football team. How remarkable is this?

So, here is the question: if you got lucky and received $1000 tomorrow with the only condition that it has to be spent in a positive way, what would you spend it on? xo

P.S: Also, sweet lesson on patience!
P.P.S: And the amazing elephant nursery in Kenya.

What a beautiful story and it makes me very happy to know that there are people around the world like that (so nice). I would spend the cash on improving our local playground, making it more safe and enjoyable for the children. We've been trying to have it sorted for a while now but nothing happend just yet. Cheers, Grace

Great project. I believe the world is filled with people, trying or wanting to help others. I always have a ready list of people in need to donate too whenever I have the means.

Fabulous story.
I would give it to our local animal shelter. Here in Phoenix, they get so overcrowded in the summer and that is not so lucky for the poor animals.

Now this just makes me happy, thoughtful, and all around wonderful. I don't know what I would do... probably give it to my friend's orphanage in Ghana.

What a beautiful concept/project.
I would donate half to the Fistula Hospital in Africa.

The other half I would spend by doling out $100 each to ourselves and our families for anything. Bills, food, anything.

oh this is so wonderful.
Before I had a child we would give $500 to the animal shelter in food and supplies every Christmas season.
We would do a blanket drive as well for the doggies cages.

The last year I did it the shelter we donated to wasn't happy with the quality of food I had bought and denied it!!!!

So now we give to childrens charity through the library of Henderson Nv
So I would take the $1000 to donate to the childrens books and education of NV.

Aww how lovely, Tiffany!

Amy, how sad that they denied the food!!! I bet that all the animals in the shelter would love it. Btw: It's really sweet that you make a donation each year for Christmas:) So special!

I know Diana, right!
It really opened my eyes to the greed of charities and how they denied food to these poor animals.
Animals are my love. I only wanted to help those that can't help themselves.

This is amazing! It's the kind of thing that reminds me, even when people are so certain that the whole world has gone to hell in a handbasket, that there is SO much good left! SO MUCH!!! And that goodness makes my heart swell with joy. Thank you for sharing this, this is just incredible :)
