Tattoo

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

A little under two years ago I promised myself that if I ever take the plunge and get a tiny little tattoo it would be for my 30th birthday (which is this August- eek). For the past few months I've been going back and forth about it as I'm craven when it comes to things that are permanent (and painful). However, as I look at those cool inks, I can't help wanting one – le sigh!

Lovelies, do you have a tattoo? How many? Would you want one? What kind or where? Fancy any of the above? xo

P.S: A few more that I like.

I like the options you posted!

I do not have a tattoo (still scary to me!) but often toy with the idea of a simple symbol in white ink so it's subtle, but there...

I actually have a bunch of tattoos - both shoulders, my upper arm, and five on my legs and have never once regretted them for a second. They're a huge part of who I am and I plan to get even more!

I have two! Both are tiny. My boyfriend drew a tiny cartoon face of my brother from when he was a toddler and then my brother's girlfriend drew a little sparrow in honor of my mom. I have each on each arm.

I moved away from them 2 years ago, so I got them so they are always with me in a way. They are my absolute favorite things in the world. And it was important to me that I had people who knew the ones I love the most really well. It makes it a bit more special in my opinion.

These are all such awesome tattoos! I don't have one, but like you, I think about getting one most of the time!

ohh! exciting ... I'm thinking about one myself, but you know .. I'm only 19, so I will not take one before I'm absolutely sure what to take. If I ever decided on one, it wouldn't be for anyone than myself. I wouldn't even tell anyone... It could be a surprise for a future boyfriend. That would be a bit like treassure hunting, hahah
Love your'e blog xx

I do, I have 2
My first was a tiny star on my toe.
It was awesome, like getting a foo massage. About 7 years later I took the plunge for our anniversary and got a huge Chinese Magnolia branch on my arm.... I so regret it now. I really wish I would have thought more and not rushed into it. So the moral is if it don't feel right don't do it, you are not ready to commit.
I wish I would have listened to my gut.
Think about it very carefully, get a permanent marker first walk around awhile and see how it feels

I don't have one, but I keep thinking about them, too! I think I would get a white ink tattoo so it wouldn't be as harsh of contrast with my skin...? Love your choices and their smaller sizes. Good luck deciding!

I have 5 and I'm no where near done. All of mine are work appropriate and can be covered really easily but soon I'm about to take the plunge on a quarter sleeve. Still easily coverable but a little more out there! Take the plunge. You won't regret it.

I love the idea of white ink, Mal:)

How fantastic, Courtney. I bet they are awesome:) Do you already know what you're getting next? I'd love to see some of them.

Awww..your story is so special and beautiful, Ethaney. Aww..I bet they are amazing and I can totally tell that they are super important to you. LOVE!!

Amy, that is such a good tip, thank you. I am totally going to try your permanent marker trick. It totally makes sense! (Btw: that is exactly my thing - I want it to feel right before I do it).

I really love the anchor tattoos, I have a tiny heart on my ankle and want to add to it before I get too old :)

i have a small one i got 6 years ago when i was overseas (nothing like a holiday to get you to do things you wouldn't normally do!) and i've been thinking about getting another for the last few months. I'm not 100% sure what's stopping me, it would seem i'm more of a chicken than i thought i was!

I turned 30 last August and it wasn't nearly as dramatic as I thought it would be. :)

I don't have any tattoos. I think some of them are beautiful, but I also think natural bodies are beautiful. I suppose I could be swayed by the EXACT right one, but like you, I'm not so into things that are permanent! I guess I feel like I'm in a constant state of evolution, so who knows if a design I'd pick now would still reflect me ten years from now. I don't know--it's a tough decision!

What are you thinking of getting? I really love that feather tattoo! I now have four tattoos! I was really nervous about my owl tattoo because of it being on my forearm but I just love it so much!

Happy Almost Birthday! You are one year older than me! ;)

These are really nice ones. I like the feather a lot. I was the same way but never ended up getting one. Mostly for the reason that I couldn't decide on one thing!

i have a shell on my pelvis area and i adore it. i got it when i was 22 and haven't regretted it at all. i can hide it or show it if i want to (in the summer) and it's gorgeously done. i would suggest to draw on yourself the potential one that you want and keep it there for a week to see if you could get used to having it!

I am dying to get a tattoo - as soon as I get over the fear of the pain!

But I promised my best friend that next time i visit we'll go get tattoos together (he's getting his second, though the design is still undecided, and I'm getting a little phrase in his handwriting!)

I don't have any tattoos. I think I'm too fickle (and scared of the pain). But for the past few months I've been saying I love the idea of getting the word "breath" tattooed to the side of my foot....

Diana Mieczan said...

SJ, you are so right. Holidays are always perfect for that:)

Diana Mieczan said...

I love that you are doing it together with your friend, Lauren. So special!

Diana Mieczan said...

Oh I love that idea, Eliza!

Diana Mieczan said...

Aww..thanks, Di! Btw: I am not sure what I would like to get. That is probably my biggest dilemma.

I'm also turning 30 in August (on the 16th), and have also been thinking about getting a tiny tattoo! I know what I would get - the word "fede" (Italian for "faith") on the inside of my left wrist.. but I just can't commit! I'm the same - it's so permanent, and what if I hate it in a year???

Annie said...

A hard decision.. it's SOOO permanent!!

In theory I'd love to get a tattoo, but I'm such a commitment-phobe! It's why I always stuck with piercing, you can always just let the hold close up when you don't want it anymore. I didn't do anything too crazy, just a bunch of holes in my ears, and I had a belly button ring for awhile, but I had to take that one out because after 2 1/2 years by body randomly started rejecting it. :-P

Diana Mieczan said...

Adriana, how cool that our birthdays are only a few days apart! Btw: I love the word you chose.

Diana Mieczan said...

Stephanie, I used to have a belly button ring as well but it was so uncomfortable that I had to take it out after a while.

I have a couple. I just got one the other day actually. My father past away a year ago and I got the way he signs cards tattooed on my wrist. It's pretty special and every time I look down at it, It's crazy how much it reminds me of him. I would recommend getting something that means something to you, not that you necessarily just saw online. You those as guides but add your own flair or creativity to it!

do it do it do it! i love my tattoo, it's on the inside of my left foot, right below the ankle. i actually found a sticker of what i wanted, and wore it to be sure i liked the size and placement. (mine's a bat, symbolizing my love for halloween and fall, so it was easy to find a sticker).

Diana Mieczan said...

Aww your comment melts my heart, Meg! Great tip as well. Thank you:)
