Jeepers, how would you fancy having a lion for a pet? Might be a bit scary but it surely looks fun. In the 70's Melanie Griffith's mother, Tippi Hedren created the Shambala Preserve where their goal was to rescue exotic cats that have been abused. During that process Melanie's family got incredibly attached to this adorable fella named Neil. He practically became a loving part of their family, isn't that sweet? The image of the maid trying to hop over him in the kitchen makes me giggle each time and the one of Tippi reading a newspaper while lying practically on the lion is strangely heart-warming, isn't it?
Lovelies, what unusual pets do you have or had in the past? Do tell! xo
P.S: Remember Audrey Hepburn and her baby deer?
P.P.S: Also, man and his elephant best pal!

WOW, I always wanted a monkey-pet as a child but my parents wouldn't want to hear about it. Ha! That lion look very powerful yet cuddly. Cheers, Grace

oooh it does make me want a pet lion too....utterly brilliant.....when I lived in NY a girl told me about her building making her move after her pet snake slithered out through a hole in the skirting and popped up in someone else's apartment.....a story I have never forgotten and always been a totally freaked out by!!!
Haha this makes me think of the movie Bringing Up Baby! I would love to have all kinds of animals in the house... just wouldn't be very practical unfortunately!

OMG. That is ridiculous. I would probably have several heart-attacks if I woke up to that. Haha.
WOW. I feel like it would be pretty awesome to have a lion for a pet, but I would live in constant fear. You never know when their instincts might kick in! Still...really cute pictures.
How sweet! I would be very timid! I much more fancy a vizcacha for a pet. A little pet lol
Just wanted to stop in and thank you for your kind words over at Unedited....
And wow a lion for a pet? Not for me :)
That is amazing, and kind of scary. I would love to visit but I would be a little frightened I think. I've only ever had dogs and cats, seems boring now :)
Grace, my brother wanted a little monkey-pet as well and Nataline, ohh me too! They are such an amazing creatures.
Oh my, Young at Heart! Can you imagine spotting that snake in you flat? I would be totally scared as well. Btw: I read an article ages ago about a similar story.
Wow, that's totally awesome! I don't know if I'd have the guts to have a lion as a pet. But I guess if it works, it works! These pictures are so great. Niel was totally part of their fam!
Wow, amazing and a bit scary!
thats pretty awesome, but I think I would be too chicken to let a lion sleep with me.
Animal posts make me so happy. I guess I need to do more.
LOVE this post.
These are incredible pictures. It would be amazing! However, after watching Greys Anatomy recently, I don't think I would want a pet lion ;)
Lisa, I totally need to see that episode now.
Love this post!!!
SO cool!!
Might be cute and adorable in the pictures. Just remember no matter how tame he appears, he's still a wild animal and can turn. Has happen many times in the past.
