Do you have your future baby's name picked out already? Or did you have it before your baby was born? I've been thinking a lot about baby names since Balazs' brother had his little girl a few weeks ago. Both he and his partner agreed on the name prior the birth. On the flip side, our friend Eva and her husband had a few names in mind but wanted to see the baby in the flesh before settling on the one that would suit him the most.

So, I'm curious, what's your favourite baby name? Do you have one already picked for your future baby? If you have kids already, how have you decided on their names? xo
P.S: Remember that Friends episode where Rachel took Monica's baby name for Emma? Here it is if you fancy rewatching.
P.P.S: Also, babies and age, and thoughts on motherhood.

My husband and I have a boy name picked out, but we can NEVER agree on a girl name, ha. Then again, we aren't in any hurry to have a baby. I know for certain, though, we'll keep our (future) son or daughter's name a secret until he or she arrives, because there are baby-name-stealers out there. ;)
I think I'm going to pick like 3-4 boy & girl names and then when I met the lil one some day in the future I'll know...I've always liked Darien for a boy & Aurora for a girl. =)
Lemanie's Randomness Blog
we had names in mind but didn't decide until he was born. we also didn't tell anyone our top choice in case people name-associated with something distasteful that would turn us off from the name :)
I think about names all the time - for my grandchildren. I'm kind of jumping the gun since my 26 year old daughter isn't even dating anyone and is trying to finish law school right now. Still, I daydream. She has told me she's going to use old family names and I like that.
I really like when people use old family last names as first names, if they are cool names of course :)
I love baby names! I have a few favorites picked out for sure, but I'm way far away from having a kiddo, so we will see if it changes, or if the guy I end up marrying likes the names too. Hahahahaha.
Nicole, so funny what you said - "there are baby-name-stealers out there."
Lemanie, both are really sweet. I have a friend named Aurora and she is a total sweetheart.
holtkamp, that is such a good tip!
For a girl we decided to use our Great-Grandmother's names together and name her Bernice Grace. If it's a boy I want a name that starts with Z like Zeppelin, but we can't agree on Zephyr or any other similar ones yet for him!
Man, I can't wait to be pregnant this summer! Dammit Diana! lol
We had names picked our for our daughter before I was pregnant and didn't end up using it for her. I could just tell it wouldn't fit her but I am totally in love with her name. Our boys name is now really popular so I don't know if we will be going with it. Even though I love my name I was always Rachel B. as a kid and I hated that.
YES! I had my heart set on a name for years and then....I had a boy.
For a little girl it was going to be
Verbena Layne( Pronounced Like Jerry Seinfeld would Call Elaine, LA-NEE :)
But My husband picked our boys name as soon as we found out it was a boy and it works perfect.
We are done now, so my girls name will always be in my heart
Amy
we have ours picked out but it seems to change every 6 months :)
My ex picked out my son's name when were still married. Dakota. It completely suits him.
is it sad that I had my daughter's name picked out when I was 16...before I even knew my husband or even thought about motherhood? After my great-grandmother. Kishan. I love it as deeply (if not more) then I did then.
I do have baby names picked out but I dont share them with anyone. I'm too afraid of a Charlotte (sex & the city) incident.
My baby names evolve, that's why I'm never too worried about someone taking mine. My Sister and I did fight a little over the name Ava which she named my niece, but she wasn't pregnant with her yet! In the end she said "you can have it...but you'll lose a sister!" ahahahaha
My girl name is Mila ;)
heh, my brother's doughter is Bianka, so it's pretty common to Blanka :)
I alwayas had a list with probable names, but I noticed it changed much for years :D
But still these are always traditional, oldfashion names...
Jeanette, its so sweet that you are daydreaming about future grandchildren and I love the idea of using old family names.
Bernice Grace sounds so charming and beautiful, HiLLjO and I'm so excited for you!!!
Rachel, how interesting. My friend who is 5 months pregnant right now has the same dilemma. She is thinking about the name Emma but she is worried that it's too popular.
Such a beautiful name, Amy:) And Designwali, it's really lovely, actually and the name is so sweet. aww..love!
Nikki, my niece is Kamilla but everyone calls her Mila or Milli:)
ooh I know how Rachel feels.
I was Amy D. my whole school career because of soooo many Amy's in our school I HATED IT!!!
Thanks Diana :)
Amy
I have no idea what I am going to do about a baby name, but I love looking at this name blog: http://eponymia.blogspot.com/
The depth and breadth is impressive! I feel like I would want to do some research because naming a person is a big responsibility!!
If I had a girl I'd name her Penelope, for boys I like Matteo or Santiago....
XOXO
we had our baby names all picked out but then when the lady was born they didn't suit! I blogged about what we ended up choosing here: http://www.babyspace.net.au/2012/01/baby-3-weeks.html
I love thinking about baby names! Though I don't think I would settle on it for sure until the baby is born. And I defo wouldn't tell anybody beforehand! needs to be a surprise! x
kishipsa, how sweet. I love Bianka as well and TheChambrayCountess, oh boy, that blog is awesome. Thanks so much for the link:)
Monica, those are adorable names and Matteo sounds so charming.
Going over to check it our right now, Bron:)
That actually makes sense to see the baby first and see how the names you like fit what they look like! We arent having any kids since we already have my wonderful stepkids, but I do love the name Quinn and Valerie for a girl and Max for a boy! ;)
We had names picked out beforehand, but also had an alternate in case it just didn't sound right after we met the baby :-)
I love the name Emma. I had it on my list of baby names but my husband didn't like it, for some reason. De gustibus, as they say :-)
Elisa, Emma is a beautiful name, indeed:)
