Iceland - Land Of Giants

Thursday, March 8, 2012
If I wasn't already totally smitten with Iceland, looking at those awesome human-like and reindeer-like electric poles would surely seal the deal! This cool company flawlessly transformed regular and boring electrical pylons into creative parts of the Icelandic landscape. Even an Italian newspaper called Iceland the land of giants, that is a poem for the eyes! Crikey, road trips would be so much more fun if we had those dudes standing around, don't you think? xo

Fun fact: Did you know that in Australia people call transmission towers ironmen and in parts of Canada, hydro towers? So cool:)

P.S: Also, Icelandic midnight sun and the amazing Blue Lagoon!
P.P.S: Aurora Borealis.

(Thanks, Vanessa)

I think that road trips would rule if all the electrical pylons looked like these! Hmmmmm, maybe Iceland needs to go on the list of places that I need to see?

I am in love with this. If you have to have wires, why not make them pretty?

No way! The electric towers look like they've been photoshopped in. I wish we had towers like this in Canada.

my friends went to iceland in college and they called it, "weird in the best possible way." these towers are just another cool thing to add to iceland's list! :) have a great weekend diana!

I will be in Iceland next summer (2015) and would love to see these fascinating structures. Where in Iceland are they located? Is the area accessible by car?

Diana Mieczan said...

Rita, I am not sure where exactly in Iceland they are located but I will try to find out for you.
