What's Your Morning Routine?

The scrumptious bon appétit magazine started a fun new series where they ask people (and their staffers) to share their morning routines with, well us. No matter how healthy or unhealthy, delicious or not, they might be, they simply want to take a nosey peek into other people's life! Sounds pretty awesome, doesn't it? So as you probably figured, I’ve been glued to the column reading about all the mischef some do to their stomachs and at times getting really ashamed of myself when I see the pro surfer, Kelly Slater starting off his morning with a vegan smoothie while I’m already on my third cup of coffee and only had one boiled egg with a lousy toast.

Anyhow, you should totally check our their column, it’s a great morning read. But in the meantime,  let's get to know each other a bit more: Do tell, what morning routine do you have? What time do you get up? How do you feel about breakfast? Do you eat it daily and what? At home or in the office? Morning read? What do you drink in the morning? Do you have any morning rituals? xo

Thats cute. I might blog mine late but mymorning routine is quite boring. Sleep for as long as I can possibly manage, brushmy teeth, slap on some clothes. A piece of fruit, a glass of water and a hope made black cherry oatmuffin later i'm hobbling to my car with my laptop and shoes precariously balanced

What a great and fun idea to catalogue. I always start the day with a big glass of water, OJ + vitamins and a bowl of cereal. My daily read is usually my personal email and NEVER my work email.

I really have a hard time with mornings! Can never drag myself out of bed but when I do its toast, tea, juice and then out the door. I wish that I could be more leisurely and luxurious but it just never ever happens!

Such a good idea. I always have a shower, eat my porridge and listen to the radio. Have a good weekend.

PS How do you smoke in the shower?!

That's really cute! I wake up at 5:15 every day - if my husband is home, I go work out from 6-7 and have a protein shake when I get back. If he's out of town, I take the kids to school and have a vegan smoothie when I get back... or steel cut oats (those are to die for). :)

such a good question, and fab column! since my mornings are generally free until about 10, i have espresso with hot milk and two slices of wheat toast with homemade jam. :) my friend's mom makes it! i love the mornings. i read the online magazines and newspapers i love and relax with my coffee, it's bliss! xoxo, m

this is so much fun to look at! I'm afraid to admit my blackboard would be pretty sad looking.... just a cup of coffee (I'm horrible for skipping breakfasts all the time).... maybe this series will inspire me to do better!

Wow..FourJedis, you are AMAZING! I am so trying those oats:) And Marissa, your mornings sound so lovely and relaxing. (I'm totally dreaming about that homemade jam..hahah)

I don't know what feeding 7 animals and getting dressed looks like but I don't eat until I get to work and it's either a bagel or trail mix. I need to eat better breakfast!

I am so not a morning person. I usually wind up eating breakfast at work but it's healthy at least: Greek yogurt with berries (fresh during the summer, frozen during the winter) and granola on top and a cup of black coffee. Sometimes if I'm feeling ambitious I'll swap our the yogurt/berry/granola mixture for steel cut oats with jam mixed in, or an egg and cheese sandwich. ;-)

I try & start each day with a bottle of water. Then I drink as much decafe coffee as my bladder will hold as I get my son ready for school. Breakfast is involved only a few times ....no bueno!

Hahahahahha, I wish I was that organized! My morning looks like this "Oh, shit I have work in 45 minutes, I need to get a shower and pack up my stuff." Then I run out the door and drive to work. Lol!

ugh my morning is so lame compared to these. I drink coffee and eat cereal. So lame.

I have to rise between 6:00 and 6:30 for school. I have the horrible habit of not leaving enough time to eat, but I must have my coffee. On the weekends, I usually make myself some scrumptious eggs or some oatmeal, but of course I also have coffee then.

breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.... I really enjoyed reading this post and getting fun ideas to change up my routine! Lovely!

I usually wake around 7a. I try to reada devotional or Bible chapter etc., then I check up on emails or notifications. I visit the toilet(!), drink my Reliv supplement, weigh, make an Elite Cuisine smoothie (usually whatever produce I have on hand, a little yogurt or soy milk, chia, flax, ginger), start my Hamilton Beach (to go mug coffee or a pot for husband and me). Then I am in my workout gear and hit 24hr fitness (whatever 8 or 8:30a class) and usually shower there. I'd rather stay home and watch LIVEwith Kelly and shower at home but I shouldn't. I am trying to quicken the hairdrying routine and remember jewelry, makeup, perfume/lotion, but I usually start work 10:30 almost "done." :) I ought to be all put together by then considering it takes me so long! Since I go home at 7p, I wouldn't be able to work out that late (too hungry & tired!):)
