For The Chill

Monday, February 6, 2012

Oh boy, it seems that the snow brought sore throat in our home. Balazs have been under the weather the past few days and instead of making the usual cuppa of hot toddy to lift his spirits, last night I tried Lindsey's idea. The delicious combination of lemon, mint, ginger, cinnamon and honey made a perfect good-night-sleep mix and to be honest, it tasted so good that I brewed myself a cuppa this morning as well! (Here is the full recipe). xo

Do tell, what are your sore throat or cold remedies? Anything you swear by?

P.S: Also, chai tea and those artful teabags.

I use a traditional Swedish recipe that I learned about while living there. While it is similar to the recipe you mentioned, my 'feel better' drink is a combination of hot water, lemon, honey and ceyenne pepper.

Feel better soon,
Karen

Oof, I am definitely coming down with something... and this recipe sounds like the perfect remedy! Usually I rely on massive doses of Vitamin C and calls to my mother to get over a cold. Hope you feel better!

I'm sorry you guys are feeling poorly Diana. I know how you feel. I just recovered from the flu. I love the combination for this drink! I never would've thought of adding mint or cinnnamon.

Get better soon!

This is going to sound totally gross, I know, but I learned about it when I lived in China. And now I swear by it. Hot coke and lemon. Yep, you heard me right. Hot coke and real sliced lemon. Works every time. xx

Karen, I love your comment and adding ceyenne pepper sounds really interesting. I would love to try it. Can you tell me how much of the ceyenne pepper should I use for a cup of water? Thanks:)
