Have a magical weekend

Friday, July 29, 2011

Lovelies, what are you up to this weekend? Balazs is working late tonight so I'm eating alone and watching a documentary called "Babies" (Have you seen it?). I read so many great reviews! Tomorrow we are planning to take a long bike ride to the castle and have a dinner in our favourite Greek place. Hope you'll have a beautiful, fun and totally relaxing weekend and here are a few great links from around the web. Enjoy!

Rooftopping

It seems that even though I'm terrified of heights, I find all things up-high totally amusing. A brilliant Canada based photographer Tom Ryaboi started a new photography craze called "rooftopping". It pretty much consists of finding the tallest skyscrapers around the world, climbing them and taking a perfect shot of the view below! Tom finds the trend very addictive: “When you climb to the top of a skyscraper and open its hatch for the first time, a pure rush of adrenaline hits you as you overlook the city from above".

As for me, I will leave building-climbing to professionals and I'm happy to enjoy those gorgeous images from the comfort of my sofa :). Don't you just want to frame them? Lovelies, would you dare? xo

Daydreaming: Chicago By Boat

This morning I stumbled upon this awesome time-lapse video of a day long trip on Lake Michigan and I instantly thought of Balazs. A few years back he took a boat trip similar to this one while visiting friends in Chicago. So now, I’m daydreaming about spending a day getting lost with my thoughts while the cool breeze is playing with my hair and the lights of the ever-busy city are twinkling away. Wanna join me? Have you ever been to Chicago before? How did you like it? xo

P.S: Don' miss the video!

Chai Tea

Lately the weather is playing tricks on us (how is it at your end?). Each day starts off with a beautiful sunshine and gradually gets cooler and rainier. So last night we had enough of it all and I made a pot of spicy chai tea after yet another cardigan-wearing day. A few of our friends came over and we spent the evening sipping and catching up on Curb Your Enthusiasm. It's hilariously-cringy, have you seen it? Btw: Sara's recipe is my favourite! I just use soy milk instead of the regular milk. Also, for those who are at luck with the weather: you can totally drink it cold as well, just chill the pitcher for a few hours before drinking. It's delicious:). Darlings, do you drink tea? What's your favourite? xo

Icelandic chips in a bowl

An Icelandic brand came up with a brilliant chips-sharing-no-messy-fingers solution. They swapped the traditional bag for a paper box that folds into a bowl - perfect for sharing! What's more, after you finish crunching on your extra-thin-organic-sea-salt goodies, on the buttom you can read a few witty facts (both in English and Icelandic) about potatoes and their importance to the country. I love chips like there is no tomorrow, how about you? (They are so addictive). xo

P.S: Stay tuned for a beautiful giveaway Wednesday!

Fashion and Landscape

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Darlings, remember this project of street-style photos paired with matching landscape? Yesterday Cath added a few new pairs that I simply adore! (Btw: speaking of romper, isn't the one above adorable?). xo

Brooklyn Stairs

As the news spread about the plan to build the Atlantic Yards arena in Brooklyn, Dana Eskelson, inspired by local shopkeepers' fear of going out of business, joined an art project to show her sympathy. The result? Bergen Street in the Park Slope neighborhood got a face lift! Brilliant! It's all part of "Inside Out" - a large-scale participatory art project that transforms messages of personal identity into pieces of artistic work. The portraits are a celebration of workers and owners of small businesses in the surrounding area. (You can read more about the story in NY Times). I love the concept of community and togetherness! What are your thoughts about it? xo

Travel Fantasy: Chilling in Chile

Oh my goodness, how dreamy is this house? It's located in Huentelauquen, Chile and it would make a prefect vacation escape. The property has tons of natural light, plenty of space and the sea near by - bingo! A perfect mix for a chillaxing time with family or friends. I would host BBQ's under the stars every night or spend the morning on the front porch reading books or just enjoying the view. Just looking at it makes me feel so at peace. Sweets, should we pack up? :) xo

Witty Rings

Monday, July 25, 2011

I have such a soft spot for simple stacking rings and those by a Brooklyn based duo Silva/Bradshaw are totally up my alley! The witty twist of the beautifully shaped gold/silver base-ring and different colour bands make a really unique combination. I think it's such a fresh look that you can wear together or separately depending on your mood. Sweets, would you wear it?  xo

P.S: This one is super cute as well!
