Travel Fantasy: Up In The Air In Turkey

Thursday, August 25, 2011

Even though I'm terrified of heights, I'm smitten with the idea of going for a hot air balloon flight. Just picture spending over an hour up in the air in Cappadocia, Turkey. I'd love to take a sunrise tour around that spectacular landscape full of unique rock formations, deep canyons and breathtaking valleys. Just looking at the view makes me feel so peaceful - truly tranquilizing!

Lovelies, have you been in a hot air balloon before? Would you be up for an adventure like that? xo

I saw a picture like this a year ago. It was made by friend photographer from Slovenia and it was just breathtaking. I am also afraid of heights so much, but I think that in Cappadocia I would try it, because the view would be worth it :)

gorgeous post

I am afraid of heights so I wont be getting on any balloons anytime soon but I am sure the view must be amazing. Maybe I should just grow a pair and do it.

I've been twice and loved it SO much - it truly is peaceful but you have to choose your location wisely.

To be floating through the cool air at dawn is magical and to be doing it in Capadocia = wow factor to the max!

Happy day Lovely!

xx Felicity

Those photos are spectacular! My husband surprised me with a hot air balloon ride as a wedding present...it was super sweet! And while not as scary as I thought, it was so neat to see the city from that perspective!

I've never been in one, but when I was very little a hot air balloon landed in the baseball field two blocks from where we lived. My mom took me up there to see it and she tried to get a picture of me in the basket... but I screamed bloody murder and she couldn't get me near the thing. ;-) I love watching them from the ground, but I'm terrified by the idea of going up in one to this day!

Beautiful shots!

I've never been, but I can't wait for the day that I get to try it out! One of my distant neighbors, takes his hot air balloon out every morning, and I always get to see it on my way to work!

what an amazing view!!

I live right up the hill from a place that rents balloon rides. They float over the valley of farmlands. I've always wanted to go up...just haven't had the guts to splurge! It's pretty pricey!

I was just in a hot air balloon in Cappadocia this July! It was one of the best experiences of my life, and I have a fear of heights. the hot air balloon moves verrry slow so it actually isn't very scary. The view of the rock formations and ancient rock cities is gorgeous! I recommend it to anyone who visits Cappadocia. i used the Royal Balloon company and they were amazing, from lift off to flight to landing. This post makes me miss Turkey.

That would be an amazing experience. I once won two hot air balloon rides, but they expired and I never got to use them. Still kicking myself.

Have a good weekend!

I was JUST in Cappadocia last week and took a balloon ride... a total budget-buster but entirely worth it! And I am terrified of heights, flying, planes, etc... but amazingly it was okay. The quiet and the relatively sense of still made it okay, I think. And I made sure to book with a really good company and a really good pilot, whose control over our positioning was spot-on the whole ride. That made a huge difference!

Diana Mieczan said...

Emikw, that's awesome! Thanks for the booking tip. The whole thing sounds incredible. I totally need to try this:)
