Juice It Up!

Monday, August 29, 2011

I remember as a child dreading homemade juices of any kind. Especially those that included carrot or spinach for that matter. Luckily, those days are behind me. (Well, we all grow out of that silliness, don't we?). Anyway, last week Hollie made this super healthy carrot-green apple juice  with a twist. She swears by adding a bit of ginger to bring out the perfect balance of "spiciness and freshness" to the mix. I would never have thought of that - brilliant! Lovelies, doesn’t that sound refreshing? Do you make juices at home or is it just too much fuss? What's your favourite combo? xo

P.S: Hope everyone was safe and sound this past weekend.

(Photos by Hollie, thanks Krystal)

Delicious, my juicer got broken a few months so I have to get a new one asap to make this. Yum

I used to have a juicer but I gave it away because I seldom used it- it was just too difficult to clean! There are so many fresh juice bars around now that it is easier to just pop out and get some freshly squeezed goodness. You should try granny smith apple and watermelon. Amazing. Also with a bit of fresh mint. mmmmm

Have a great day.

oh yes, this is SUCH a delicious and healthy combo. I always get carrot, apple, ginger + either parsley or cucumber or some other green. YUM!! I really think juicing is one of the best things to do for our health on a regular basis.. now if only it was cheaper and the clean up was easier ;)

Monica, funny story: I used to drink so much beet juice as a child that till a few years ago I couldn't even look at beets. But by now I love them again:)

We've been juicing pretty much every day lately...I wrote a post about becoming a juicehead after watching "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead." We use a lot of kale, spinach, cucumbers and celery, to balance the sweetness of strawberries, apples, carrots and beets. We also add ginger, mint and sometimes parsley to give the juices a little kick. Not a bad way to start the day!

Elana, I love your comment and I need to watch the "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" now. You totally motivated me to start making my own juice now:) Thanks!
