Let's talk glasses!

Friday, June 3, 2011
Let's chat about glasses a bit, shall we? I am planning to get a new pair but I'm having a really hard time choosing! There are just too many great styles so I would love your input. Do you wear glasses or lenses? Which one do you prefer? What's your favourite style of frames? Or brand?

Fun fact: My Balazs has this funny thing that he wears his frames all the time except while he is eating. It's the funnies thing!

P.S: Anyone had the laser eye surgery done? I'm so scared of it!
P.P.S: How cute is this little girl?

i only wear glasses for reading. but i did stumble across this site (http://www.zennioptical.com/) where you can get really inexpensive frames. so maybe you don't really have to choose?

my dad got laser eye surgery and he said it was the one of the best decisions. one of my best friends wanted to get hers done but they said she had to wait until she was 25 because your eyes are still growing until then. crazy right?

I wear contacts most of the time, but I just got a new pair of glasses that look nice so I can switch it up some. they are like retro looking brown plastic frames. I agree...so many great styles!

someday I would like to get laser...heard good things about it but it scares me a bit...

I just got modern, black frames that look terrific...i always wore wire frames before and now i think they aged me....i just saw a tv show with some real horror stories about laser surgery....i wouldn't go near it....it could ruin your life....

my dad had the surgery! it was awesome and he didn't need contacts after he had it performed. however, after about 10 years, it has started to wear off a little and he's had a little more vision problems, but overall it was a great experience.

i love the look of big, black oversized glasses. i just can't bring myself to make the purchase!

I wear contact lenses. For some reason, I can't wear glasses nor sunglasses for long periods of time (average of 5 minutes) something about the way they sit on my nose, it's bothersome. I know, I'm weird!

I wear glasses all of the time, except during special occasions and the occasional outfit post. See, when I lived in the Midwest (where humidity existed) I wore contacts. When I moved to the dry climate I now live in, my dry eye condition has forced me to stay with glasses all the time :(

I'd love to do the surgery!

That is crazy, Morgan. I didnt know that eyes grow until 25! WOW

i'd love to have the surgery, but am scared too. and i'd love to wear my glasses more, but my eyes are so light sensative that i can't go anywhere without my sunglasses. and sunglasses over my glasses is just too much for me to handle!

Hahah..Amy! Sexy Librarian style is great:)

Elisa, you're not! I have that with some glasses too. If the frame is not right my nose gets tired or at least that's how it feels

I wear glass only when I'm reading or on my computer, I'll never use lenses I can't even imagine putting my fingers in my own eyes
about the style I prefer the frameless ones

I had lasik! and even though it's been almost 2 years I still have nightmares that my vision goes back to what it was lol. I wore contacts so it's funny I miss glasses. They're just so cute, but I do not miss the being exhausted and still having to go the bathroom to pop out my contacts before crashing!

I've thought of getting lasic before because of my terrible eyesight (800 degrees on both eyes!) but then I heard about this new method called Visian ICL. It's not as dangerous and invasive and best of all, it's reversible! I'm really looking into doing this instead! I recently blogged about it, you can check it out here.

But then glasses can look pretty fashionable too! ;)

I'm planning on getting some new frames in a few months...I'm thinking of Warby Parker's. I know some people who have them and they seem great.

I wear glasses nearly all of the time, but I do have contacts to wear when I run. I love my glasses, but I paid a ton for them. Z & I are both ordered our next pair from www.warbyparker.com You can choose 5 and they send them to you to try on for free! Plus they are pretty inexpensive & they give away a pair for every pair purchased.

I'm far-sighted, so I just wear my glasses for reading, working on the computer, or making jewelry. Oh, and I'm the same as Balazs - I can't wear my glasses while I eat! I don't know why.

At the moment I have these Nine West frames in crystal brown: http://www.framesdirect.com/framesfp/Nine_West-lcpese/r.html

I love 'em. :-)

thankfully, my eyesight has been 20/15 since I was a kid. I'm the only one in my family without glasses.

i say thankfully because i have crooked ears! i have a hard enough time finding sunglasses to fit, i couldn't imagine having to wear something all the time!

i used to wear glasses + contact lens before i got lasik. i didnt like wearing glasses unless i have to because they tend to give me a headache. :-( i dont know why. but glasses make you look cute though! esp the dorky ones. get the dorky, big ones! :-)

A friend just got laser treatment, like JUST got it, so I do not know her results. Another person I know had it done and loves it. Oh, a 3rd person did get it done but feels that she needs a touch up...that her sight is fading again.

I have specs. I like cat eye shape and classic tortoise shell. I have had round metal and round tortoise. The cat eye ones that I lost and finally replaced a few years later, with tortoise/rectangular. And most recently, I was prescribed bifocals. I didn't get the bifocal part as I can read/see well enough. But now I am not wearing the specs at all because they get in my way of reading close up :) and I dont like taking them on and off all the time. I have never worn contact lenses. That creeps me out.

In the 2nd link, picture of 6 I like the 2nd row, 1st column pair.

i am a huge fan of warby parkers. i got my two toned ones there and LOVE them!

sometimes coastal contacts will also do an amazing deal.

Two of my really good friends went together to have lazer eye surgery at the end of last year and the both said it's the best thing they've ever spent money on. I'm a bit scared of it like you but I like the idea. I've had contacts since I was 15!

i wear glasses for reading and driving, though soon i think i'll have to wear them more often :/ i love wearing them though--i have a great pair by SALT. it's a really great line, i think you would like it!

I have been wanting to get a pair of glasses with a little more character! I wear contacts daily since I am near sighted, but want some fun glasses as an option!

I do know a couple people who did the laser eye surgery and they chose to do one eye at a time, which may seem odd, but if something had gone wrong, which is much rarer these days now that they have perfected it, they still had the other eye...but I am like you, not so sure about having anything cutting near my eye! Yikes! :)

Have a Wonderful Weekend, Diana and I look forward to seeing what you decide on glasses...you will look adorable!

I love the pair in the first picture but doubt I could pull that off! I've tried lenses but prefer my glasses. I usually wear Face à Face glasses http://www.faceaface-paris.com/) They are handmade in France and very comfortable :)

I'm a contacts girl but that's mostly because I have a terrible time getting glasses to suit me. I am so jealous of people who look amazing in glasses.

I really dig Warby Parker -- fast, easy, inexpensive, stylish.

I don't wear my glasses while I'm eating either. I only need glasses to see far away, and it actually hurts my eyes to have my glasses on when I'm eating, reading, or on the computer. As for frames, I have black Ray-Bans. I like to keep it simple. :]

I do wear glasses for reading and close up work...which is why I am having trouble right now blogging because I left my glasses somewhere else! haha
I love black rimmed glasses, retro style.
I am afraid of any eye surgery too! Two people in my family have had it done and they are fine now though!

Have a lovely weekend!

I am Warby Parker-obsessed, but there are great frames everywhere-- I just ran into a girl with fantastic slightly-nerdy frames and they were Ray Ban!
Have fun shopping!

I'm scared of the laser eye surgery too! And I'm loving the chunky glasses look right now. I need to get new glasses by the way. I actually have bad vision and wear contacts every day but my eyes need a rest. I should take advantage of the new geek-loving glasses trend. xo

i know a lot of people that have had laser eye surgery and they are so happy with it!

Oh I so understand you, I have to choose new ones next week and probably they will be Ray Ban :)

and look like this http://www.ray-ban.com/usa/products/optical/RB5228?var=2000

what do you think? :)

That little girl is so adorable! I like the first link you have, those are nice and the animal like print is fun. I like classic looking ones, the bold ones or thick ones dont really look that great on me. Lighter colored ones look good for me because my hair and eyebrows are dark!

I worked in glasses for years and have a soft spot in my heart for them. I LOVE THEM ALL! And really I think the best thing for you to do is play. I know that not all eyeglass stores are playing friendly as most are behind glass cases, but if there is a S.E.E. near you GO! The glasses are all out for you to play with and you can try on different styles.

My favorite is pretty bold but I also love super colorful glasses in really basic shapes. You will find a pair you love I guarantee it :D.
