Fashion Trend: Colour Blocking

Thursday, June 9, 2011

Last fall I read that NY Magazine called the colour blocking trend the new floral craze and it seems that the beautifully bold, loud and dynamic colour combinations are here to stay! My favourite colour blocking combination is anything mixed with bright pink or orange. However, as much as I love this to look at, I'm a bit reluctant to go for it myself - maybe I'm just not brave enough.  How about you, my sweets? Are you up to turn up the contrast and wear some bold colours this season? What's your favourite mix? xo

Both colour combinations are eye-catching. I like the red long skirt and pink shirt. Blue and green are good mixes too. Or purple and yellow ... Woo, I would like to see that one someone.

I do love the pink and orange combo too!

I think I would definitely try this trend...though it seems most of my "bottoms" are neutrals! :) Sounds like I need to go shopping.

It's interesting to see colour blocking defined as a "Trend". In the Caribbean & India it's a way of life. I was brought up to dress this way.
Love the outfits above. xx

I love it because I love color! I think I like the look of pairing yellow and turquoise. Two completely bod colors that both POP when worm together. One could wear a turquoise dress (think a maxi that flows) and some chunky yellow beads.
:) xo

i love this look but i am not sure if i could pull it off. i am so used to wearing black, navy, and beige. i would have to go buy a few things though because there is really nothing in my closet that will work.

I feel the same. I love this color-blocking trend on other people, but I'm not sure how it would look on me. I feel like I'm not fashionable enough to rock it! haha.

Caroline, yellow and turquoise would look AMAZING together! I have a pair of yellow skinny jeans that I wear with a very light pastel green top:)

Colour blocking like this at one time would have been a no no but today is all to rage and I love it. I am someone who adores colour so for me these photos are just beautiful.

I love this trend. I think the bright pinks and oranges are fabulous, but so far I've really only tried bright green with purple. I need to get more bright solid color pieces so I can really give this look a go!

Green and purple must look pretty as well. I love your comments:)

I love blues and oranges together! This is a trend that I really want to try but I don't own enough individually colored pieces to really make a go of it.
