Today, I would like to share with you a special event that took place last week. On Friday my grandparents celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary! Balazs and I couldn’t be there with them but we made sure to drink a glass of champagne in their honour.

My grandparents met just after the second world war and got married just a month after they first “lay eyes on each other” as my grandpa would say. They both agree that it was love at the first sight so they didn’t want to wait. Isn’t that sweet?

My grandpa asked her father for his blessings after just a week of dating and he says that till this day, it was the most frightening experience of his life. Isn’t that funny?

Darlings, I’d love to know how long have your grandparents been together? Do you know their “love story”? How did they meet? Are they still together? xo

Wszystkiego najlepszego w dniu rocznicy, babciu i dziadziu!

Awh I love this and happy anniversary to your grandparents. My grandparents are both deceased but were together all their lives. My Grandpa saw my Grandma walking down a dirt road and decided she was the one for him. I believe they met in Finland where Grandpa was working. I think I'll have to get the story soon from my dad.

Aww, this post is completely heart-warming! It reminds me of my grandparents who have all passed away, but each couple had a long marriage and lots of adventures together. I hope we can all experience the same love and commitment in our lives!

This is so sweet! Happy Anniversary to them! My grandparents were together for 50 years before my grandfather passed away. They met in the hospital after the war, my grandma a nurse and grandpa a patient. Apparently she was the only one who would put up with him during his recovery, haha, so he knew she was the one for him!

My Grandparents have been married forever! Not sure what their story is... oops!

My parents got engaged two weeks after they met, and have been married for almost 40 years!

Such a beautiful story, 65 years together and with such a beautiful beginning of their marriage. It must have been love at first sight.

I didn`t really know the story of my grandparents love and their marriage but they were together more than 60 years, too.

Oh, and Diana I always wanted to ask you something (I`m to shy in private matters) but that last sentence of your post is actually an answer :) And That 3 photo looks so familiar :) (PKiN in Warsaw?)

Have a nice day,
I gratulacje dla dziadkow :)

I love stories of how people met!! My grandparents met shortly before the second world war. My papa was in the army, so was away all the time. My nana was good friends with his sister (they worked together), and used to hang out with the family a lot. Papa came home for leave once, met nana, and asked her out on a date. Then he stood her up!! The next time she saw him it was winter, and they were all out taboganning. He walked up to the group, and nana was so mad she took a fist fool of snow, went over to him, and shoved it in his face while saying "nobody stands me up!". Papa said that was the day he knew he was going to marry her.

Wow! How wonderful! Congrats to your grandparents!
My grandparents met at a New Year's Eve dance at a local Grange Hall in 1945 (after my Gramps had just come back from the war), were engaged in February of '46, and married in April. They were together for 42 years before he passed away - and my Gran forever loved him til the day she died. They were total opposites in every way - but completed each other just the same.

Wow! Congratulation's to your Grandparents. I found out recently my Grandparents were never married. Funny how I never knew!

So sweet!

My grandparents have been together for 60 something years as well, I think.

I asked them a couple of years ago how they met and what it was like. And strangely neither of them could remember the details. In fact my grandmother ended up telling me how her sister met her husband instead. But my grandparents marriage is not based on love, I think.

My grandparents are no longer living--but all four were amazing people and both sets had amazing stories! Both sets were married for many, many years as well...
beautiful post, Diana! :) xo

That is inspiring! 65 years!! And married after only a month. No idea how they did that, but how wonderfully romantic.

I think my grandparents are approaching 60 years. They are still together, and I know they met young(like 16) and were married 2 years later, but I don't know how they met.

My grandparents have been married 65 years too! They are high school sweethearts, which I think is adorable. They got married when they were 20 and 21 I think. I love hearing their stories about being together over the years. I never get tired of hearing them. They definitely have true love. That is wonderful your grandparents have been together so long too!
