Summer date ideas?

Thursday, May 26, 2011

I'm on a mission to make a list of fun, maybe crazy, a bit romantic date ideas for Balazs and myself to enjoy this summer. Nothing fancy just simple everyday stuff that doesn't require much prep time and are inexpensive! Like a picnic in a park with stinky cheese and a kite, a wine tasting day just for two, a night in with a rented movie, popcorn and beer, smooching in a cafe, taking a sightseeing bus tour to feel like a tourists for a day or as simple as going for a walk while holding hands!

So, Darlings now it's your turn. What's your favourite date idea? Do you have a set weekday for date nights with your guy or it's all spontaneous? How often do you go out on dates? What's your most memorable one? You know, the one that blew your socks off:) Ready..steady..let's chat!

oh I remember those days...so fun.
Nope, now baby and no family = no date nights :(
I would love to go out to a cafe' for coffee and talking a walk around the park hand in hand but we make do.
One day maybe when we are 80 we can have date night again.

Beach picnic!

First thing that comes to mind is a stroll during a rain shower, holding hands, sharing an umbrella.
Doing touristy things in a home town is a good one. I like taking the elevator up towers (like the CN tower in Toronto or Atakule tower in Ankara) w/ a rotating restaurant up top. Ordering dessert or a drink. Or hiking it up a lighthouse or any kind of tower. Enjoying the view.

Love the frisbee photo! My favourites would be walk on the beach or a bike ride, followed by a nice long lunch and a bottle of wine! But I'm quite happy just pottering around with Mr TNMA - a walk in the park or coffee and a cake at our local bakery are just as good.

my guy and I like to go to the waterfront and rent canoes. We can spend a couple hours paddling around the arboretum, thru the park. it's beautiful! and if you go earlier in the summer/late spring, all the baby turtles have hatched and are sunning themselves on the logs!

Also, Groupon is great if you have it. I've bought some date night packages and even a chocolate making class for two :)

adore the idea of a lovely cheese tray and some wine tasting. it's the best of all worlds.

I actually really like buying simple toy products from museums and assembling them together. Like DIY rubber bouncy balls, your own little DIY planetarium etc. It's really fun! Haha okay I'm getting my nerd on!

Stephen and I like getting gelato and wandering around our neighborhood to window shop and explore. That always leads to something fun.

I love love summer dates with my hubby. The most recent was a 4 course cooking class that I'll blog about later and now we are ready to buy some new bikes for day biking trips where we can stop off by a lake for a lazy swim.

We are so boring, it's kinda pathetic! I really do like looking up a place that we've never eaten before and getting dressed up to check it out...of course you could always spice it up by doing the blind folded taste testing (c:

I love getting in the car with no plans and no directions and just driving. We see where we end up and love exploring new areas.

For our first date the Mr. took me to lunch then to a museum. Looking at art with him was so terribly romantic.

Love the pictures! My favorite dates are the ones that last from morning until night. Eating breakfast outside, walking around the city, doing some window shopping or sight seeing, and then going somewhere nice for dinner! I also love taking a ride on the ferris wheel at Navy Pier around 9:30pm when the fireworks are going on! So lovely!

Love strolling holding hands - by the water makes it even better.

It's so funny you post this today because I just found this morning a list I made last summer of fun date ideas for the BF and I. I also had picnic and sight seeing in your own city. Also - sneaking into hotel or apartment pools for some swim time, rocking climbing, and trying restaurants we've never been to before.

Diana Mieczan said...

Those are great ideas, Marissa and sneaking into hotel pools sounds fun and Tara, that sounds so romantic! I love it.

ever since we moved in together, my fiance and i hardly went on dates anymore. :( we became too lazy and comfy. i dont want that though. sometimes i still like to go out and do "dates" stuff. one of my favorite classic dates is just go watch a good movie and have delicious dinner. :-) nothing adventurous, i know, but its still so nice.

Diana said...

I have to say that I love your list already! Wine tasting, a picnic in the park...so sweet!

My favorite date has to be our first wedding anniversary last month, it was sweet, simple, and perfect! We went out to dinner at a new place and everything from the service and food, to the atmosphere and drinks was perfect. Then we went for a walk through a cool little town with cool shops, holding hands and enjoying the night!

Sounds like you have a great summer planned! Im taking my stepdaughter to an amusement park this weekend so that might be something to add to your list!

A late night outdoor picnic while watching the Perseid meteor shower! They peak August 12 into August 13 this year, so it's a Friday into a Saturday. Yes, I know, I am a gigantic nerd. But it's so much fun. A few years ago my husband and I got together with another couple, we put down a blanket on the hill in front of our apartment with some beer, and we just laid back and enjoyed the show. It was amazing. :-)

While getting a cappucino, surprise him with coloring books and crayons.
Make candles together.
Reorganize the apartment.
Teach each other something.
A photo scavenger hunt.
Traveling date (apps at one place, salad another, entree another, etc). You can map it out and pick cheap places.

You'll have to post about your favorite ideas!

Me and the boy wander together all the time. For my b'day that is actually all we did.

But our new date obsession is watching The Voice together :D

i love our sunday nights - we make popcorn, watch reruns of columbo and giggle on the couch together. (because the couch is more of a love seat and we don't exactly fit on it, haha!)
