Let's talk haircuts, shall we?

Is it just me or each year as soon as it gets warmer I have a huge urge for a haircut. I think it has to do with the changing season and getting rid of the heavy winter gear. I'm planning to schedule an appointment for next week! So, Sweets, I would love to know, when was your last visit to a hairdresser? Last week, a month ago or maybe a year ago? Do you go regularly or only when your hair is really unmanagable? xo

P.S: I love having a scalp massage. I could totally have a nap during it (giggle)

I go every 3 months. I have shorter hair, so I have to keep on top of it unless it looks really ratty.

Gonna do anything drastic with your hair for summer?

Chapstick Fanatic said...

i get mine every 3 to 4 months. I don't really do anything to my hair on a daily basis (i just let it air dry) so i don't really get split ends.

i would love to see before and after pics if you do anything drastic!

Oh I have my hair cut about twice a year, but every time I vow to be more organised and get a regular trim. Looks so much chicer! In fact I was just thinking this morning that I need a bit of a 'tidy up.' So your post is very timely!

i feel the same way! and i love short haircut (just below the ears). however, right now im trying to grow my hair out so it will be long. i havent had long hair in years, so its a big goal for me.

omg, and scalp massages! i love them, too. when i was in vn last month, i had a shampoo/scalp massage every day because it was soooo cheap (~$2). sigh.

Weird you mention that...I have an itch to do something crazy different...cut the fro short, go light brown with crazy red...I haven't yet figured it out, but something's about to go down!

Every year I chop off all my hair come summer and then let it grow out again for 12 months with 1-2 trims. I was actually just thinking this morning about doing a hair post exactly on these lines asking people for help in picking out my new short cut...great minds think alike!

I'm due...just ran into a friend that said, "I didn't know you were growing your color out!" oops! time fro a dye job!

I get my hair cut every 4 weeks. This is the biggest downside to short hair. Honestly, I need a second job to afford the maintenance on the short hair cut. But I love it and I'm not sure I'd go back to long hair.

I just got my hair cut a few days ago! I only cut it a couple of times a year, because it's long and thick with some layers. I love how light my head feels, and how bouncy my hair looks! I cut off several inches, and it's still long. I look terrible with short hair. :-)

Diana Mieczan said...

Hannah and Morgan, nothing drastic...I'm not sure what yet but I'm too scared to chop my hair all off:)

Tish, that sounds great! You so should go for it!

I just had a couple inches trimmed off about a month ago. But I'm the same as you, I like to grow it out for winter. Maybe because I don't want my neck to be cold! And I like to have it shorter in summer.

Although, last summer, I kept it longer because I liked being able to pull it back when it was hot!

I usually try to go once every 3-4 months. My stylist gives a really great scalp massage. I would go every day just to have her wash my hair if I could afford it!

Ah, my last one was about a month ago - desperately needed. I always want something way different, but am soooo afraid to lose my length, so it's never as different as I'd love.

The last time before that? 5 months earlier right before my wedding.

i know exactly how you feel, with the warmer weather i always feel like chopping my hair off! but, i really really want to grow mine out quite a bit longer. so we'll see how the summer goes and if i can put up with all the hair in the heat! usually i chop it all off mid july when i cant stand it touching my neck anymore!

Bella @Bellgetsreal said...

I went in about 2 weeks ago for the same reason as you...the sun was out (uh for a minute in Seattle) so I scheduled a cut. I have long layers so I don't need to get it cut as often so I go approximately every 3-4 months right before it drives me so crazy I cut it myself. ha
This year I am thinking summer lightening -maybe I'll go a honey color????

I haven't had a hair cut in a bout 6 months. I keep putting it off because I'm not sure what style I'd like to get...

I got my hair cut a month ago and hated it. Fast forward two weeks later and I love it. I get mine cute every few years.

Sunny & Star said...

I used to go regularly, however, the last year I've only been going when my hair is really unmanageable. I have been planning to see my hairdresser for weeks now and haven't made it there yet. Keep your fingers crossed that I get my hair cut Saturday.

Amy said...

oh I couldn't live without my hairdresser. Every 4 to 6 weeks for me. A total tune up roots, highlights, trims, massage.
I am growing my hair way long though, I don't want a cut for a long long long time. just trims please :)
I love to be able to braid and put it in a messy bun. I love my long hair.

i'm going today to get my hair cut:) there's just something freeing about the whole experience, even if it's just a trim!

i got a trim a few months ago but i wish i'd had gotten more chopped off

Annie said...

are you going to go short like you've been wanting to!? I'm trying to grow mine now so just trims every few months.. nothing like a good scalp massage :)

Tanvi said...

It varies ... If I am growing them out then not for about 6 months at times ... but when I am maintaining a cut then in every 6-8 weeks! I do a scapl massage every week and take real good care - No products, No dryers. Nothing! :)

I usually go every 2-3 months depending on whether I'm trying to grow it out or not. I just donated in October, so now I'm back in grow-it-out mode. :-)

Just had a haircut! Defenately a spring feeling (and I am leaving on a trip in a few days). I go every 10-14 weeks as I have super thick heavy hair and if I don't get it cut I'm dragging along an extra 4 kilos ;-)

I got my hair cut about six weeks ago. I have long, fine hair so it's not much of an issue when the weather gets warmer. I did however, have some bangs cut and I absolutely love the style I've got right now! I need to go get my bangs trimmed here soon. I understand the urge to cut it though! Good luck with your decision :)

LifestyleBohemia said...

I was just thinking that it's time for a haircut! I've been wanting to try bangs, but an nervous that they may require a lot of up-keep.

THE ALTERNATIVE WIFE said...

Oh I JUST had one on Thursday. It was my first one in months. Actually a really long time. Last cut was in October. How bad is that? Anyway...and yes I did almost nap during the scalp massage! LOL

Happy Tuesday, honey! xoxo

I'm trying to grow my hair, so I'm not going often. I'm like you though and get that itch to chop it when the weather gets warmer! I'm resisting!

I have short hair, so I go every 6-8 weeks to see my amazing hairdresser, Marta. And this thursday I'm off to get my hair permed, for the second time. Let's hope it sticks this time! Hahaha

Eliza, fingers crossed!

You so should go for it, Frankie. I love bangs!

i get this urge too but I am backing off this time. I want my hair to grow out so its just trims for me

Over due. Started thinking about making an appointment a few months ago, but postponed since it was winter and I usually cap my head with a toque. Now is about time to do it. Spring+hair cut=fresh

I am with you! I have the urge to get a new do at times. It was a few weeks before I had my baby that I had my haircut last. I was telling my hairdresser that I thought I wanted to have my hair cut short and she said that she refuses to cut pregnant women's hair short, because they ALWAYS regret later. haha...She said to wait until I have the baby and then have it donw. Well, here I sit again...I kind of want it short, but then I like it long. I have been trimming my bangs myself in between. I only go to the hairdresser about every 3-6 months.

I can't wait to hear what you decide to do! I still LOVE that "hair crush" style you posted a while back. :)

Googlover/keishua said...

Just thinking about changing th old hairstyle. I need a hair cut, too. Not quite sure what. Oh, a scalp massage..that would be nice, too.

Megan said...

While I would love to go more often, my budget prefers that I only go about twice a year. Luckily, my hair is really healthy, and seems to do fine in between trims. I never really change my style (boring, I know!) so it's always just a trim.

Nikki said...

I just chopped mine actually! Based on a post you had about a short choppy bobb a while back ;) My Sister has always had short hair so I knew it would look okay. I needed a change and I couldn't be happier. Plus short hair makes me feel like I can kick ass. I don't know why.

and p.s. so glad you got a lamp!! hope to see a pic soon! :)

I chopped my hair off in the fall and have only been back for a trim once since then. I'm trying to grow it back so I'll only scheduling a few trims in the next little while.

I love the feeling of my hair after I get a haircut. It always feels so soft. That top haircut is really cute. Love the bangs, so 60s.

If I were rich, I would have someone wash my hair and massage my scalp every day!

Hair cuts are fun, aren't they? I get mine cut about every three weeks, the draw back of a pixie cut. But I cut it a little too short last time, so I'm growing it out a bit.

How do you wanna get your cut?

Vanisha said...

I have terrible hair! I went last week and had it cut short, I prefer it short. When I'm in the same city as my hair dresser I got twice a week - because they have this signature dry wash which is AMAZING. And now, when I'm not in the same city, I travel over every three weeks or so. But I use that time to get EVERYTHING done - waxing, hair, nails, everything! You should go for it Diana!!!

i just cut mine a few weeks ago and the scalp massage was the best! and since it had been forever since i had mine cut, i felt so good afterwards with my hair now healthy and happy and looking good again!

Jennifer said...

I just got a (much needed) haircut! Kept the length, but lost some of the weight, and it feels fantastic! I always want light light light hair in the summer -- love getting some natural blonde highlights from the sun. I totally agree with you about scalp massages, too -- the best!

Jess said...

I go about every other month or so. It's always good to get rid of split ends, even if you just trim it up to keep your hair long. Me, I keep mine in a short bob!

Kirsty said...

Definitely understand that! While it's going into the colder weather here its hard to know whether you want long for that gorgeous look or short so when you wash your hair you head doesn't get frostbite. haha :)

Marjorie Rose said...

It's funny that the shorter my hair is, the more haircuts I need because growing my hair long again requires strategy.. right now it's about every 4 weeks.

Take a pic of your haircut, I'd love to see it!

Blank Musings said...

I feel the same way! I actually chopped off about 5 inches before the winter started so I'm going to try to grow it out this time, which is the opposite of what I normally do. I hope it goes well!

I'm in desperate need of a cut! And then just as I say that I have a great hair day...like Beckett on Castle kind of great. I thought I wanted to cut a chunk off the length and now I'm waffling. Sigh.

I go for one every 5 to 6 months and like to change my look as much as I can.. But because I have really fine hair, I need to do something really drastic for changes to show and that is not possible everytime :( I colour my hair once to twice a year usually in shades of brown as red or anything else wild tends to wash off very quick. I wanna do a short pixie cut sometime.. Wondering when i will collect the guts to do so? :)

Love that top haircut...wanting me hair long!!! NO cutting for me. xoxo

Well I was a little early and had it lopped of in February. It will just get trimmed from now on.

What did you have in mind for yours?

Diana Mieczan said...

Emma, I would love to chop it all off but I'm too scared, so I will probably go for the choppy haircut or something like that.

My friend Agi is a graphic designer who also works as a stylist in a salon. I looove getting my hair done now! No awkward chitchat with an indifferent stylist, just regular friend chitchat. So much nicer!

I just got my hair cut on Tuesday! Although it was the first time I'd been since last year. I don't go very frequently. Whenever I get the scalp massage it reminds me of a line from Will & Grace where Grace says she gets a "hairgasm" from the scalp massage haha
