In the eye of the beholder...?

Thursday, January 20, 2011

Garance Dore recently shot her friend Anouk in Sydney and I can't help but adore how stylish yet relaxed and comfortable she looks. Beauty is an interesting "thing". We are all drawn to different facial or body characteristics that define beauty for us. For me it's all in the smile and eyes. So, darlings, let me ask you: What are the little things that define beauty for you? xoxo

Ps: My babydolls, it's so great to brain-storm with you and I can't stop thinking about your comments from the Couples post. It's so interesting to hear different points of view. Keep them coming!!

Well now this women is a stunner.
I find happy people beautiful, confidence is very sexy and I like people that look natural and unique, freckles or crooked teeth etc.

beauty is when I can see that sby is happy with himself and able to laugh about himself as well...

{well and some other little details lol}

I agree; eyes and smile. Very captivating. I agree with the effortless style, too. There's something about someone who looks effortless and confident. It has little to do with their actual looks and more to do with their aura, which is a beautiful thing.

Physical beauty = Eyes and mannerism

Pure beauty = confidence with softness

I think she is absolutely beautiful. Looks like a fun girl to hang with

Rebecca, I love what you said about the aura and it's so true and Bella, that is exactly what I thought when I saw those photos...I would love to hang out with her.

She is lovely. Confidence and happiness, of course, are the most important things, because when you have them, they radiate out from your face and your whole being. If you don't, your whole demeanor is darkened.

From just a sheer physical standpoint, the best way I know how to define what I think is beautiful is someone who has an "open face." It's hard for me to describe what I mean by this, because I just know it when I see it, but it kind of means a face that has big, happy eyes and a big smile...they just look approachable and open.

For me, beauty is all about the eyes. You can tell a lot from their eyes and I love that. Anouk is gorgeous!

I love the expression on that first photograph! I agree with you...the eyes and the smile are a big plus for me. And of course a genuine, personality just augments the whole package. Have a wonderful day!

I think confidence is beautiful, but when it comes to a specific feature I'd have to say smile because NOTHING is more beautiful than laughter and joy. In fact, I think the more smile lines someone has around their mouth and eyes, the prettier they become.

I agree with all of these. And kindness too is beautiful! :)

I think we recognize beauty in confidence. She looks so secure with herself, and that makes her shine.

Oh wow, I love this woman's outfit! For me, beauty is confidence, and easy/warm smile, and expressive eyes. And nice hands.

I love it. I wish I were this natural in front of a camera. They make me so nervous and awkward. She looks calm cool and collected. I am guessing the photographer had a lot to do with that fact too!

She is gorgeous! Very great question...beauty for me is defined by energy and an overall disposition that's hard to put my finger on :) Good clothes and hair doesn't hurt lol.

Gorgeous! For me I'm often drawn to women with beautiful hair and eyes. More than that though I'm always struck by women who are perfectly put together. Jealous of women like that :)

Love the blouse in the first photo. I think eyes are what I first notice on men and usually what I am most attracted to.

she is sooo incredibly lovely!

I must say that I love eyelashes, and the overall look a person gives you, and the look they have when they are staring at something other than you.

I agree about the eyes and smile. I've come to realize over the years that there is always something beautiful in everyone. It may be the smallest detail, but it's always there.

I'm so glad you understood what I meant; it's so hard to put into words!!

I absolutely think makeup can enhance one's beauty. I think the only problem comes when one thinks she is ugly without it and can't bear to be seen bare-faced. But the right makeup can completely transform a woman's overall look, partly because it may very well transform her confidence level.

I'm a sucker for eyes, but i'm also drawn to people who are quirky and fun! XX
