Hello Darlings! Today is my turn in the amazing blog crawl project. Thanks Beth for including me and it's a pleasure to be part of this with all of you, my fantastic blogger-friends.
So this is a story about a little girl with big dreams. She was born is a small town in Poland. Her family has lived in that same town for generations and will probably continue living there for decades to come. She went to kindergarden two blocks away from the the house she was born in, and went on to elementary school just a step further. She was a good student, so she was fortunate enough to get into a good high school and an even better university, that was just in the neighboring town. She married her high school sweetheart – too early, according to her parents – and by the time she finished her studies, at the age of 25, she was a happy mother of a little girl who looks just like her...Her husband runs a business: a local grocery store. She became an accountant, and got a good job at the city hall. Still living in the same family house - although slightly expanded - that she was born in.She lives the very normal, very ordinary life of so many 28 year old girls in her small town...pretty much all her friends, actually.
Except, she was not like every other girl in her town. She had big dreams, as I mentioned already.
This girl is me...or rather, who I would have been...had I not moved to America when I was 12. And there began the journey of an adventurous Polish exchange student with big dreams – did I mention that?

I love this story!
Diana,
This was such a great story! I lived in Poland (Warsaw) when I was 9, went to a Polish school and was fluent in Polish then! My dad is a doctor and he was invited by the Polish government to teach American blood banking methods. This was in the 70's and it was a fascinating time in a fascinating country. I can't speak much Polish today (too many other languages layered on top) but I have very fond memories of my time there.
All the best,

Awww Diana, you're so coy. I love how this story turns out. I want more :-)).
The Blog Crawl was fun - wasn't it?!
xoxo
Very creatively told! I like how it's a story of how things "could have been"! :)
I grew up in a small town and often think if I had stayed, and never moved, that my story would be so very different than it is today.
I didn't know you were originally from Poland! I live in an area in Maryland (just outside of Baltimore and DC) where there is a large Polish-American population. I love living in such a richly diverse place.
Sending xo your way!
lovely story!
