Cake Dilemma

Thursday, September 9, 2010
This upcoming weekend we're going to celebrate Balazs' mom's birthday. My plan is to bake this yellow-chocolate layered cake which looks scrumptious and not overly heavy, but I'm not too sure. Darlings, do you have a favorite cake recipe?

Kisses:)

My favorite cake to eat is coconut cake with a cream cheese frosting. I suck as a baker but I sure love eating it! I think because a good coconut cake is light and fluffy with the cream cheese melting in your mouth. :)

the one you've chosen looks hard to beat.

Go for it! There's nothing better than yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Except maybe for funfetti... but that comes from a box.

Oh yum! I am not too crazy about cake but unless it's made of ice cream or cheese.... as in cheese cake. Though I really enjoy "better than sex cake". You must try it if you get the chance! Super easy to make and quite delicious. Happy celebrating to you!

I am making a cake for my daughter's birthday this weekend as well. A friend of mine makes it every year for 4th of July. Great flavor and pretty layers! Since my daughter's b-day is 9.11, I'm doing a patriotic theme.

Here's the link: http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2010/06/make-cake-series-flag-cake.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MakeItAndLoveIt+%28Make+It+and+Love+It%29&utm_content=Google+Reader

Time consuming, but fairly easy!

Mike made me this cake for my birthday and it was amazing--it's a chocolate amaretti cake with orange zest. It's dense, and I expected it to be one of those cakes where you can only eat a tiny bit without drinking a huge glass of milk, but it's actually fairly light--the chocolate blends well with the almond and orange flavors and they lighten it so it's not too heavy. It's sophisticated and pretty much all you need to do is put everything in a food processor to impress the pants off anyone!

Hmmm I'm an equal opportunity provider when it comes to cake - I love ALL cake. Lately I've been craving a classic carrot cake with cream cheese icing for the fall. This yellow cake sounds lovely - classic and not too heavy (saves room for ice cream :) )

Happy Birthday Balaz' mum!

Wow! That one looks great! I am not a cake kind of person though, I appreciate it once in awhile, I am more of a strawberry shortcake/hot/warm fruit with ice cream kind of girl! :)

I can barely make toast so needless to say, if I gave you a cake recipe, you'd probably end up burning your house down.

That picture is making me hungry :(
